This is a marvelously engineered tool. At first look insanely complicated, even with the instructions, but then when you get your head around it - simplicity itself, and so effective.

I've only used it on relatively small diameter cable yet, but have no doubt it will just as effective on the biggest its capable of being used with. Multiple cables at once are no bother either.

Really couldn't recommend it higher for its intended purpose.

The Jaws that grip the cable are made from hardened steel and may be replaceable. They grip the cable REALLY well and i was able to strip even down to a few mm without having to strip more and then cut it back. see picture for details. For a few quid more these have earned a place in my electrical kit.
It would be good if the wire cutter was replaceable - seems to be secured with a rivet, changing this to a hex screw would be an improvement

I gave this a 4 rather than a 5, for only one reason. After I bought this, I saw that other, more expensive strippers actually had a way to adjust the stripper depending on the gauge of the wire. This stripper doesn’t have that ‘knob’ that you see in the center of other ones. Is that really needed? I don’t really know. When using this stripper, I have not had any difficulty with different wire gauges, and even with insulated wire, it will strip the insulation first, rather than also stripping the wires underneath, which I wouldn’t want it to do. So it’s working very well for me, and I’m glad I bought it. I don’t know if I’ll ever need that gauge adjustment part, though, which is why I only gave it 4 stars.
