I actually listened to this album, before buying "A Fever". Going backwards, there is no surprise. Being facile, the first album was SFA around the time of Guerilla, Pretty Odd is the Furries around the time of Phantom Power. The "this is better than that" critique is something I never support, suffice to say that Pretty Odd is, along with Sam's Town, an Album that you could play alongside any of the greats and know it will stand up. The Beatles comments come from those who only know the Beatles as filtered through ELO and Oasis. The Beatles were very different - the Beatles were very noisy - very Art Rock - how they captured the masses is still a mystery.
What you (hopefully) have in your hands here is a classic American rock album. It took me back to the Ozark's "It'll Shine". Pretty Odd needs at least 10 plays to unlock its secrets. Melody rich is an understatement. The songs drip tunes, and many have the drive of the Jam behind them - yes - late period Jam sets perhaps the expectations best.
To call standout tracks does not do this album justice, but Northern Downpour is genius, Mad as Rabbits, and I am sure you all know 9 in the Afternoon just grows and grows.
I am certain that I will still be playing Pretty Odd in 5 years time.

Segundo álbum de Panic! Até The Disco
Álbum veio com a capa levemente amassada e está com peguemos pulos e chiados em partes de 3 faixas do lado A, incluindo o final de "Nine in The afternoon", lead single do álbum. Mesmo limpando o pó que estava grudado pela estática da embalagem, diminuiu mas não sessou o problema. Um amigo informou que pode ser problema de prensagem. Uma pena.Segundo álbum de Panic!
