In 1959, my mother played her new LP of Herbert von Karajan conducting 'Opera Intermezzi'. I was fascinated by the emotion and intensity of these wondrous works that carried me through many a dark hour. Now, 55 years later, I don't have to compete with others for the record player. Hence to Maria Callas and this collection of the soprano's operatic arias. Enough is known about her life and the self-criticism of her voice. These re-mastered recordings bring out the vivacity and warmth of her vocal lyricism with the expression and emotional intensity firmly in the listener's surroundings. The sound is excellent. I have favourites but all are very special. I never saw her perform and cannot stretch to her colossal complete studio output (time wise). This is a marvellous illustration of her talents that hopefully will take an interested and appreciative audience further afield. Warmly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure: Maria Callas? Every Callas recording I Heard is pure.
I believe that Inave Heard every recording made by Callas that have been issued..All recordings were pure ,the sound were always perfect except the age of the recording. Her voice is always pure but the sound of the older recordings is variable. We have to live with this. Callas career started in 1947 during 78Rpm Era. The LPEra Started in 1950.Fortunatelly the early recordings were good but not perfect. All her recordings In the LP.Era were good to excellent but her best recordings were issued since 1957,THE Stereo Era,Drspite the difference in sound all her recordings were always pure. The present record is the same very beautiful . I enjoy this record every time I listen to it. I hope every one of ÍøÆغÚÁÏ customers will also love it.Happy listening.
