Product description
The second studio album by the American rock band, originally released in June 2007. The album was produced by David Bendeth and written by band members Hayley Williams and Josh Farro, with Bendeth, and fellow member Zac Farro co-writing on select tracks. The album is said to explore a 'diverse range of styles,' while not straying far from the 'signature sound' of their debut album 'All We Know Is Falling' (2005). Features the singles 'Misery Business', 'Hallelujah', 'Crushcrushcrush' and 'That's What You Get'.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 February 2013This album is a masterpiece of modern music. It's a great entry into Paramore if you haven't heard much of their stuff. I rate each track on the album as follows, 0-3 is God awful, 4-6 is alright but not that good, 7-9 is good to really good and 10 is perfect:
#1 - For A Pessimist I'm Pretty Optimistic - 9/10 - Great headbanging song, very memorable chorus, I really like it
#2 - That's What You Get - 8/10 - This was the first Paramore song I heard and I really liked, I bought the single and finally got round to checking out their other stuff, I was amazed by how many of these songs I liked even more than this one!
#3 - Hallelujah - 7.5/10 - My problem with this song is that I remember the chorus so much that I forget the verses but it's stil a good song
#4 - Misery Business - 10/10 - For me this is the song that sums up the album, it's got brilliant lyrics and unlike Hallelujah the whole song gets stuck in my head, another good headbanging song, I actually think this song is perfect and that's rare for me!
#5 - When It Rains - 8/10 - One of the two songs on the album that lean towards ballads, Hayley's voice really shines on this track and I just like listening to it, it's very relaxing
#6 - Let The Flames Begin - 7/10 - This song is probably my least favourite track on the album, I don't find it very memorable but I do still think it's pretty good
#7 - Miracle - 7.5/10 - Good lyrics but again not very memorable, I slightly prefer it to Let The Flames Begin though
#8 - Crushcrushcrush - 8.5/10 - Very good song, to me this song almost sounds like it has two personalities, the vocal style changes quite dramatically at times, very catchy
#9 - We Are Broken - 8/10 - I really like this song, Hayley's voice really shines again here, my one problem with this song is the line "Your arms like towers, tower over me", to me that line seems a bit cheesy but otherwise great song
#10 - Fences - 9.5/10 - This song has quite a different style from any other Paramore song I've heard (and I've heard most of them!) and I just love the sound of it, I could just listen to the way Hayley goes "Cause you'll go out in style" over and over again! I can't help but click my fingers to this song!
#11 - Born For This - 9/10 - I think this song is a very good album finisher and the chorus in particular is great
Finally I'll give my overall score for the album, 0-3 is terrible, 1 star, 4-5 is OK, 2-3 stars, 6-8 is good, 4 stars, 9-10 is really good, 5 stars:
Overall score - 9/10 - I think this album is better than the sum of it's parts, all the songs are great ob their own but as an album it just seems even better
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 July 2023I would have been a 15 year old, metal loving, long haired "greebo" at the point of this album's release. It all comes back to me in the blink of an eye whenever I play this album.
It appealed to all teenagers who loved rock music in any form. Goths, emos, greebos, punks - we all loved this album for one track or another. Whilst "Misery Business" took the glory as the lead single, I preferred "CrushCrushCrush" for its more hard rock leaning sound.
A wonderful album full of memories ❤️
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 March 2024Very happy to finally have this album! Such an iconic album by this band!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 March 2013I was impressed with this and it exceeded my expectations. It just manages to stay on the right side of not-to-commercial and has some great tunes. That said it has a few tunes I'm less fond off, but thats more musical preference than its being a bad album
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 June 2007Until recently i had never heard or even knew who Paramore where until seeing the video for their latest single "Misery Business" on Kerrange and Scuzz.
I haven't bought many new albums for quite some time as i haven't really heard any new bands from the uk who trully inspire me, or from anywhere else which stand out from the crowd.
However after hearing Paramores single on the t.v, i was curious to check out their debut album and their new stuff online. Almost imediately after hearing their stuff, i logged onto to غ straight away to order a copy of both "Riot" and their debut album "Everything we Know Is Falling"
If you have not heard of Paramore and are looking for something new, i would recommend this album without hesistation. I have had the cd in my stereo since it arrived on monday and cannot find a tune that i want to skip.
It must be said that Paramores sound is somewhat similar to Avril Lavignes, however to be fair i do think that Paramores sound is slightly heavier with more powerfull rifts and i feel that even despite the age difference between lead singer Hayley Wilson and Avril, Hayleys voice does have a bit more power and depth.
This record is perfect for times when you need lifting up or just wanna jump around the room like a monkey as pretty much all the tunes are so uplifting and full of optimism.
Personally my favourite tracks are:
"Let The Flames Beggin"
"Mirricle"
"Misery Business" &
"Crushcrushcrush"
Get this album if you want to hear a band who i believe and hope will be big this year!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 July 2012Being an avid guitar player and a massive Paramore fan it was only a matter of time before I bought this Tab book. Usually when im looking to learn a song such as one of Paramore's hits I am reduced to having to use a guitar tab site where all the tabs are submitted by random other players who believe their ears have deciphered the correct notes by ear. These tabs Always tend to sound a bit off. In this book you can find the correct tabs used by Paramore in the studio recording of the songs for Riot! They are laid out easily for newbies to read and there is a small explanation at the back of the book to inform you of the meaning of the symbols you don't quite know. At the beggining of each tab is also a page showing the original lyrics and some doodles the band wrote down whilst in the studio, for those die hard fans who want that bit extra.
Overall it's an easily understandable tab book to help you learn to play the songs from a great album by a great band.
