Used these for supply dc power to my LDG pro II Amateur Radio ATU and also my newly acquired uSDR transceiver. I particularly like two features, the sliding lid has a facility to screw the lid down. The whole unit has a main sliding on/off switch which is a really nice touch. Holds the batteries well and does a great job.
Bought these for a back up for my 817 portable radio, set them up with 2500mAh batteries and used them on a recent portable station event. The only thing I did away with is the poor quality lead and plug, soldered a decent quality silicone twin cable on to it with Anderson connectors. So much better. Marked down due to the plug and cable quality, otherwise did what I wanted it too
These looked promising for a project which required 8 AA rechargeable batteries. One disappointment is the lack of screws to hold the lids in place. The hole is there, but you have to source your own screws if you want to 'lock' the lid in place. Also one of mine seemed to have intermittent contact for some reason - perhaps the switch? Then there are the joke 'pigtail' cables supplied. The insulation on these is very thick, but the actual conductor inside is ridiculously thin - only a few strands of copper. Actually trying to strip the insulation on these is very tricky because the insulation just pulls the thin conductor strands and snaps some of them, leaving you virtually no conductor to work with. I suppose at this price point compromises have to be made. I'm afraid I returned these.
Great they can be detached and easily unplugged from the thing you are powering The on / off switch is a good feature They are light in weight and can fit in a big coat pocket Better than a heavy 12v acid battery for many things that don't draw a lot of power for a long time Just thought .....one could use rechargeable AA batteries in some circumstances
I'm not one for leaving negative reviews on items, unless warranted. This is warranted, ordered the three pack, and they arrived nicely packaged. Opened it all up, charged up 8 AA batteries to use in them for a project. Lo and behold when hooked up and batteries in place and the switch flicked to on, no power via the barrel connector. I thought, could be the batteries so used my multi meter on them all output 1.3v so they were charged. Used the probes on the negative and positive terminals on the battery pack/case, and not a sign of any voltage. Steer clear, I know when buying cheap there's an element of risk, so I was expecting the possibility of one being faulty, not all three. Do yourself a favour, look else where, unless you like a product with 100% failure rate or incrdibly poor QC.
