Okay, like, the clue is in the description - it’s a SPOT cleaner. It’s good for getting a mark out of a carpet before it stains - like an emergency wine spill removal, or similar, but don’t expect it to clean a large area of carpet - if you need to do that, hire a professional unit like a Rug Doctor.
DON’T put cleaning fluid in the clean water tank. For most spot removal with freshly-spilled contaminant, just use clean warm water in the tank as described in the instructions. If you need to get a more difficult stain out, then by all means use something like 1001 Carpet Cleaner or Vax fluid, and scrub the stain with a solution of cleaner in water, then use this unit to rinse the cleaner and suck the dirty water out of the carpet.
It sucks pretty well, but it won’t leave the carpet really dry.
Overall, I’d say this is a useful carpet cleaning vacuum, so long as you regard it as something primarily to rescue your carpet in an emergency!
