Item arrived exactly as described, new and unopened. Works well with Sega Mega Drive Mini. The 'Mode' button brings up the Mega Drive Mini's menu without the need to hold 'Start' which is necessary with the 3 button (bundled) controller. This 8 button (10 button including 'Start' and 'Mode') Retro-Bit Sega Mega Drive controller exceeded expectations which is rare in the current climate. Very pleased with it. Buttons feel solid and positive. Glossy D-Pad is superior in feel to the bundled Mega Drive Mini 1 controller's mushy, matte D-Pad. Brown cardboard would have been better inside the box environmentally.

I purchases a megadrive mini few months ago but it came out with 3 buttons controller which I really dont mind as at the time it was the standard controller for the Megadrive when it come out in the early 90s in Europe.

The feel and look of the control its very similar to the original with added shoulder buttons. I tested it games like Street fighters 2" and works excellent. very precise and feels good in the hands (slightly smaller compared to the 3 buttons controller). Its a must have for all old school gamers that still enjoy playing games of the 16 bit era :)

Works great on PC too so if you dont own a megadrive mini it still work the purchase to use on computer.

I read some of the other reviews here saying it was a good quality reproduction. And I agree, it feels very faithful. The buttons have a bit more travel than I'm used to with modern console controllers, but it's accurate to what I remember from back in the day. The button-feel of the controller itself is almost nostalgic. The d-pad is also a welcome improvement over my xbox360 controller. Feels nice. Good build quality. Windows picks it up just fine, no need for additional software.

The only regrettable part is how awkward this is to use with games where you hold the run button with the lower part of your thumb and hit jump with the top part (or other hold & press scenarios)... it works, but it feels gross and clumsy because of how the buttons are aligned, and their different sizes. Not the fault of the controller as such, since it's part of the original design, so I'm not deducting any stars. It's just something I hadn't considered.

As an enhanced reproduction of the original Mega Drive 6-button pad, Retro-Bit have knocked it out of the park. The pad looks and, most importantly, feels just like the controller that is is replicating. The buttons are responsive and the d-pad is light and feels great for doing fighting game motions.

So why not five stars? The way the buttons are mapped in Windows is weird, and a bit of a problem for some games (typically old ones) that don't allow button remapping. MY SLS Saturn pad maps A, B, C, X, Y, Z to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, which is what most old games I've played expect. This pad maps them to 2, 3, 5, 1, 4, 6. I'm really not sure of the logic of mapping them that way.

EDIT: A follow up.

After seeing quite a lot of use in the last year my A-button has started to get sticky, and I could not find an easy solution after taking the pad apart. I've ended up using the buttons and rubber part from a broken original Sega pad to fix this, but that's not going to be a solution for most people. Neither my original 6-button pads or my SLS Saturn pad have developed this problem.

Also, echoing some other reviews, the d-pad is a lot looser than that in the original pads. In fact, I don't think the build quality is as good as the original's in general: they've obviously used the same moulds as they're part compatible, but some of the plastic (d-pad) doesn't seem as durable and the inside parts aren't cut from the moulds as cleanly as the originals.

Die Lieferung ging schnell und die Verpackung kam heil bei mir an.

Als ich die Verpackung in den Händen hielt, fühlte ich mich direkt in meine Kindheit zurück versetzt. Obwohl es sich "nur" um ein offiziell lizenziertes Produkt von Sega handelt, fühlt sich alles Orignal und extrem Wertigkeit an. Es gibt keine übertrieben große Spalte, die Druckpunkte der Tasten sind perfekt. Es fühlt sich an, wie das Original aus den 90er Jahren. Das Paf liegt noch immer sehr geschmeidig in den Händen, obwohl ich den Eindruck hatte, dass dieses Pad gegenüber dem original jener Zeit etwas kleiner geworden ist. Sicher bin ich mir dabei nicht, tut meinem Gesamteindruck keinen Abbruch. Dadurch dass man das 6 Button Layout zur Verfügung hat, fällt das Tasten umschalten für einige Mega Drive Spiele weg. Eine Verzögerung bei der Eingabe konnte ich ebensowenig feststellen, wie unangenehmes Knarksen beim Spielen. Ein perfekter Nachbau von Sega Lizensiert. Besser geht es nicht mehr und ist jeden Cent wert!

Autant les 'Retro-bit USB 6 boutons' fonctionnent toutes avec la Switch, autant il y a des 'USB 8 boutons' qui sont non compatibles. Il y a en fait 2 modèles de 'USB 8 boutons' : le '1' initial non compatible, et le '2' révisé de mai 2019 qui EST compatible Switch!
La différence est juste à vérifier sur la boîte. A ce stade, je pense que les modèles "expédié et vendu par amazon" sont tous des '2' ; j'ai commandé en novembre 2019 et ai reçu un '2', de même pour l'utilisateur "Fabien R." ci-contre, dont on voit que la boite est aussi celle d'un modèle 2. Les images qui illustrent le produit sont des images de précommande, c'était donc le modèle 1 (...photos plus contractuelles!).

Autrement la qualité est bonne, le Dpad est quasi identique à l'original, voire pour ma part meilleur, car il est un poil plus rigide, l'original à beaucoup de jeu. Mais il reste très souple pour les jeux de baston, bien plus que n'importe quelle autre manette.
Par contre les boutons ABCXYZ donnent des sensations différentes car ils sont "cliquables" (et bruyants du coup) là où ils étaient souples/mous (et silencieux) originellement. Celle d'époque n'a que le bouton start qui cliquait, là ils sont tous comme ça.

Gros plus : les macros Switch et le mapping des boutons. L et R gardent leur fonctions (là où ils opèrent en tant que ZL et ZR pour la 8bitdo M30...) et on peut inverser A/B et X/Y pour jouer en config Sega ou Nintendo. Idéal pour SNES Online, Mario Maker etc...
Et au Dpad peuvent être affectés les commandes du Dpad du LeftStick ou du RightStick des jeux.

Autant les 'Retro-bit USB 6 boutons' fonctionnent toutes avec la Switch, autant il y a des 'USB 8 boutons' qui sont non compatibles. Il y a en fait 2 modèles de 'USB 8 boutons' : le '1' initial non compatible, et le '2' révisé de mai 2019 qui EST compatible Switch!
La différence est juste à vérifier sur la boîte. A ce stade, je pense que les modèles "expédié et vendu par amazon" sont tous des '2' ; j'ai commandé en novembre 2019 et ai reçu un '2', de même pour l'utilisateur "Fabien R." ci-contre, dont on voit que la boite est aussi celle d'un modèle 2. Les images qui illustrent le produit sont des images de précommande, c'était donc le modèle 1 (...photos plus contractuelles!).
