    It's been a wait but we are finally starting to see more Cynthia Rothrock movies coming out in blu-ray. This particular movie is one of her best, and there's some great action scenes & stunts. 88 Films have done a great job with their release, and also include a second disc with the Ultimate Cut. At the current price ((£14.99, June 2024), this movie is an absolute steal. Recommended.

    Yuen Biao plays Jason Chan a young lawyer trying to prosecute some unsavoury drug dealers,unfortunately he has to drop the case because his star witness has been killed by the defendants with the help of their corrupt lawyer.Tired of working in such a corrupt system he makes a secret agreement with the judge to pursue these criminals vigilante style.Unfortunately for him he's being pursued by Cynthia Rothrock who thinks that he's involved in knocking off these unscrupulous criminals,she's a hard as nails inspector in the police force who's determined to catch him.She secretly follows him just as he turns up at a crooks home who's just been murdered,unknown to him the killer was Rothrock's shady boss Melvin Wong after scrapping with Rothrock he manages to escape by handcuffing her to a railing.Wong starts executing anyone good or bad who become suspicious of his turncoat ways,unfortunately for him Biao has a witness who can put him in the frame for murder.Wong finds out and decides that he must be eradicated.This is a much bleaker version of the star chamber with a basic premise padded out with some of the best Hong Kong action of the 80s.Yuen Biao and Melvin Wong are both terrific but for me Cynthia Rothrock absolutely steals the show with a superb display kicking and agile grace,her showdown with Karen Shepherd is definitely the films highlight.Interestingly Rocthrock turned down a role opposite Jackie Chan in Armour of god to appear in this because she was being given more screen time and a smart choice it turned out to be as this was the role that catapulted her to stardom.Without doubt one of the best H.K action films of the 80s,fortune star have just reissued this remastered edition so you shouldn't have any trouble tracking it down.Thanks for reading and I hope that you enjoy the film.

    Plotline and filming all look a little dated and weak. Some of the fight scenes are very good especially the one with the bad female using a whip chain. Unusual in how the heroes of the film are treated. Can't say more ‐spoilers.

    This is a very entertaining film with Yuen Biao. Little known compared to her sidekicks from other films, Jackie Chan and Samo Hung.
    However, Biao has a very good screen presence and undeniable physical abilities. In duo with Cynthia Rothrock we have the basis of a lively action story with a lot of humor.
    The Vinegar Symdrome Blu-ray set is also great. We are entitled to two versions of the film. And a bonus Blu-ray of the promotional documentary from the 90s presented by John Saxon (Enter the Dragon). With a very striking title at the time: The Best of Martial Arts, sometimes also titled "The Deadliest Art".
    Several archival interviews (Yuen Biao) and more recent ones (Cynthia Rothrock) are in supplements on the other two discs.
