Although this inverter does do exactly as it claims, by turning 12v into 240v. I found that it struggles to power my laptop when anything else is in use also.
Easily charges my phones and cameras so its a great buy, but for anyone looking to run larger equipment be aware that it may not be enough @ only 300w.
Bought for camping trip to blow up 5 mattresses nic. 2 doubles. Worked for one mattress then even though the fan was running the 3 pin plug socket failed. No fuse to change. Unit was still using the fan inside but no power to the 3pin.
You need to connect it to your vehicle battery direct with supplied leads. Simple enough but would have been nice if there was a power adapter to plug into the cars power socket.

Have to agree with another reviewer that it's a Krypton Factor like challenge to open!
sort of useful, but the fact you need to connect it directly to a car battery means its not very handy for say, firing up a laptop (tho if you desperately needed it, it is a solution). also, modern batteries don't have synch accessible terminals that would make it easy to grip on.
I like the idea of having a plug socket on my car, having said that, this is probably a bit too much of a palaver to make it truly useful.
My first Ring Inverter was brilliant. It was the old style with a metallic case. It lasted over 10 years and ran quietly and without any problems. The new one works well but has a very noisy cooling fan which wines away continuously, even when it is not under load. Despite the noise it is still good value for money.
