Yeah they work but take a lot of effort to get going. Start the fire 30 mins earlier.

You need a really big bed of kindling and newspaper to get enough burn mass to get them to catch. Once you have a good bed of glowing embers you are fine. Just keep throwing them on and up they go.

If you just try the supplied firelighters you will be in a pickle.

A box lasted us two nights with a couple of chunks left over in a small woodburner.
