I bought this seat to use as a guitar seat as the available dedicated guitar seats are either very tall, flimsy or use metal box section. The base of this seat is of a tripod design and very robust which are fixed to the hydraulic height adjustment cylinder. The legs are terminated with large heavy-duty rubber feet. The padded seat is simply attached to the base by slotting it onto the top of the hydraulic ram which also contains the height adjustment knob the control lever on the underside of the seat operates. The padded seat is very comfortable and of a good size. The seat can also be swivelled through 360 degrees. The back offers sufficient support without getting in the way and is nice to lean back on during a pause, The back is simply fixed to the base by slotting into the channel and fixing it in place with a wingnut. This is where I knocked of a star: there are two wingnuts with two washers. The backrest slots into the channel on the base of the seat. There are two threaded holes in the backrest and two holes (one slotted) in the channel, The channel slot is not a tight fit so the backrest does move from side to side a little. The backrest can be fully pushed into the channel and the single hole used to secure the position or you can line up the other threaded hole with the slotted whole in the channel which will enable you to position the backrest further from the back of the seat. The lever under the base is simply pulled up to be able to adjust the seat height throughout the full range of the hydraulic ram. That means you can achieve the exact height the user requires. I am very pleased with the seat and despite the price tag, it is still good value. I can't see any reason why this seat wouldn't provide years of service both on the road and in the studio.

This drum throne arrives in a cardboard box, and it comes in three pieces so needs to be assembled before use. You don’t need any tools though as they are thumb turn nuts, so assembly is pretty easy. There are no assembly instructions though so if you’ve never put a height adjustable seat together before, you may get a bit confused, so I’ll go through the assembly.

You need to loosen the thumb screw on the legs so they will pull open. When the sliding ring is all the way to the bottom, and the legs are as far out as they will go, tighten the thumb screw to secure it in place. At the top of the leg section is a black plastic cap which needs to be pulled up to pull it off as it needs to be removed. This is the hardest bit of the assembly to be honest as it’s stuck on there well but if you give it a good pull directly upwards, it will come off. The backrest slides into the rear of the seat underneath and there are two spare thumb screws with washers in a resealable pouch in the box which are used to secure it in place. One of those thumb screws is a spare one as you can’t used both, even though there are two holes in the back rest mount, they just don’t line up to use two, and it’s not designed to so it’s not a build issue. Finally, the seat is placed onto the stem of the legs, into the round hole in the framework of the seat bottom and that’s the assembly complete.

The seat is amazingly comfortable as it conforms to your rump since it is made from a memory foam cushion. The seat then has a leather fabric covering with lovely red stitching which contrasts with the black nicely. I really like the brand name stitching on the back as it adds a nice finishing touch, it’s just a shame it’s partially hidden by the backrest arm. The seat has a good amount of suspension on the hydraulics and gives a bit of a bounce as you shift your weight on it. This makes it extremely comfortable as it cushions every move. The hydraulic system adjusts nicely with a lever underneath the seat. You pull the lever up when your sat on it to make the hydraulic go down in height and then lift you weight off the seat and pull it again to bring it back up. It’s a simple system which works extremely well.

This is a quality drum throne with is extremely comfortable to use. The suspension helps to cushion every move, it can be adjusted to your preferred height quickly and easily, and it’s lightweight so is easy to move around. This definitely feels like a premium product, and I think it’s priced about right for the quality…

It's quite soild for the first sit on it but after time it softens slightly, great for little people has it goes down quite small.
