  • ROTATABLE COMPASS HOUSING - Silva Ranger No 3 is a traditional allround base plate compass suitable for basic outdoor activities, it is commonly used by hikers, mountaineers, backpackers and hunters. The rotatable compass housing makes it compatible with the Silva 1-2-3 navigation system and it is filled with anti-static liquid that ensures clear reading, fast settling time, perfect dampering, stability and accuracy of the needle.
  • BUILT IN CLINOMETRER - DETECT SLOPES ON MAP - The compass housing features a stable, easy to read needle and the red/black north-south lines in the capsule bottom ensure easy and safe settling. The capsule also feature a built in clinometer used for measuring inclination of slopes on the map.
  • MAGNIFYING LENS FOR PRECISE MAP READING - The baseplate is designed with a curved back end for comfortable holding and a magnifying lens for precise map reading.
  • LUMINOUS MARKINGS FOR NIGHT NAVIGATION - The Luminous markings of the compass enable night time navigation when first activated in light. The scale lanyard features two scales, 1:25 and 1:50, allowing for easy measurement of distances on a hike. It is made of a soft, flexible material, making it easy to place directly on a map while out in the field.
  • HOT STAMPED INFORMATION ON THE BASEPLATE - Silva only use highly durable acrylic plastic. The blend has a lot of transparency which increase the map visibilty and ensures quicker navigation. The scales and other information on our compasses are hot stamped, which makes them exceptionally durable. On all Silva compasses, the direction accuracy for Magnetic North is 1 degree. The size of the base plate is 10.7 x 5.4 x 1.1 cm.
