The device came very well packaged in a cardboard box with high-density foam around the inside, and bubble-wrap on the outside in the form of a padded envelope. You can therefore disregard any historical reports of devices arriving broken.
The device is professionally constructed and works exactly as advertised. It is very very sensitive, and without doubt detects minute changes in static fields. It's a really nice touch that it has it's own automatic calibration cycle to derive it's own baseline from the room it's being set up in.
A really fun product that actually works. Very highly recommended.
