This Telescopic Arm (Model No. DS001) arrives in a plain brown, Neewer branded cardboard box. Inside is the arm itself, a 1/4”-20 to 3/8”-16 adapter, a 1/4”-20 to 5/8” adapter and an instruction leaflet.
This arm is designed to be used with Neewer’s own Extendable Camera Desk Stand (Model No. TL283) but should work on any stand/pole with a diameter of about 24mm to 32mm.
The arm is well made and has an excellent finish throughout. At one end is a clamp for attaching it to the stand (or other kind of pole), and at the other is a small ball head mount, onto which you attach your camera or other equipment. An easy to use twist lock with rubber grip, allows you to loosen or tighten the extendable arm and lock it in place anywhere along its length.
The ball head mount is controlled by a single nut, that has a large, easy to grip handle. It has a 2.5cm plate with a rubber pad that helps prevent any equipment you attach to it from scratching, as well helping with grip. In the middle of the plate is a 1/4”-20 thread for attaching your equipment to. You can also attach equipment with either a 3/8”-16 or 5/8” socket using the included adapters.
In use the arm worked really well and it was easy to work with. You do need to be conscious of the 2lb/09.9kg weight limit though, especially if working with the arm fully extended. This should be enough for even a mirrorless camera and lens for streaming though, so shouldn’t be an issue for most.
In conclusion, this is a very well made and finished telescopic arm. So long as you stay within its weight limit, it works as intended.
