- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 June 2023Very pleased with my CD. Arrived early and exactly as described by the seller.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 January 2017Understandably many will point to this album's successor, Another Green World, as the pinnacle of Eno's songwriting prowess. But I personally love the quirkiness of this Taking Tiger Mountain. Almost 45 years on I realised not owning this album represented a howling gap in my music collection and I'm not sorry I decided to order a copy. It sounds every bit as fresh and as catchy as it did then.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 February 2021I am familiar with the tracks as replacing a much beloved but scratched vinylmlove every song ..my favourite Third Incle sounds even greater on CD.Great value in perfect nick.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 October 2015Eno's 70's output has been highly lauded but for some reason I had always assumed that this album was not quite up to par with the rest. Having finally took the plunge I realise I was mistaken, It's actually one of my faves from that era.
Released in 1974, the same year as his solo debut (Here Come the Warm Jets), this album finds Eno continuing down the same road of off-kilter rock. Where it contrasts with the earlier record is perhaps a darker tone and a slight reining in of that album's energetic madness. Standout tracks include the opener "Burning Airlines Give You So Much More" and the title track which closes the album. The former a catchy pop song filled with lush harmonies and a sweetly undulating guitar line, the latter a gorgeous soft ballad. Even at it's most beatific though, the album still manages to exude a faint hint of dissonance, often coming from Eno's stream-of-conscious lyrics.
What strikes me most about the album is how well it's aged. I think if it was released today it would receive universal critical acclaim. Perhaps not coincidentally I find the weaker tracks are also arguably the most dated ("Fat Lady of Limbourg's" synthesised percussion; "The True Wheel's" backing vocals).
Nevertheless it's a fantastic album and comes highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 June 2015The follow up to Here come The Warm Jets, Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) doesn't disappoint and it includes iconic tracks The Fat Lady Of Limbourg, Third Uncle and Put A Straw Under Baby, and the album again features as guest musicians Phil Manzanera and Andy Mackay, along with Robert Wyatt and Phil Collins. As was Warm Jets, Tiger Mountain was released in 1974.

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 October 2016An absolutely genius of an album. Shows what can artistically be done with music and lyrics to the nth degree. What appears at first to be nonsensicle songs refresh the mind with images and tales you couldn't dream of. All from the genius that is Brian Eno.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 April 2015Awesome album and one of Eno's easiest to get on with too. Quintessential English folkrock sent through a weird acid prism and captured by a genius of electronica. Nothing else is quite like this and it should be in everyone's collection!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 March 2018You either love it or hate it ......listen before buying !!!!!
Be warned ..... the tunes and lyrics will get stuck in your brain ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Brian Eno no inicio

5.0 out of 5 stars Brian Eno Frühphase

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELENTE
