Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on ÍøÆغÚÁÏ. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I used a plastic fermenter before with mixed results - some brews definitely off, likely due to infection. So far, 2 fantastic brews with this one (double IPA and a coffee porter). Really easy to clean and the clamps on top keep the top on very securely. It's also surprisingly lightweight considering studiness. The two handles on the side are great as well.
I see no reason to suppose this won't be worthy of a 5 star rating - too many of these have been sold to far better brewers than me, so anything I write about it will be extra to previous reviewers' comments.. The fermenter is currently doing what it does best - fermenting my latest creation and I am being very patient as I wait for the process to run its course. I'm not in a position to recommend or condemn but the likelihood of the latter is so remote, I doubt I will do that. However, the packaging was good, the box it came in was perfect, the only thing I am very slightly disappointed about is that my existing bottle-filling wand appears to be of no use so I will have to transfer the beer to a secondary fermenter (plastic) with a siphon and then bottle the beer later. No big deal, the fermenter was a gift for a special birthday so it would be churlish of me to moan about needing more equipment, wouldn't it?. :)
I was a little unsure about this one based on zero reviews (at the time of purchase) and the fact that it seems so much cheaper than other steel fermenters. I'm happy to report that I was worried about nothing, it's beautifully manufactured and looks great.
Like a standard plastic bucket the lid comes off to make filling and cleaning very simple, unlike the buckets though this lid is locked in to place with 4 clamps that form a very tidy seal.
There is plenty of space above the 25 litre mark for krausen build up but even if you get some coming out of the water lock on top it just pours on to the lid where there is a fairly deep trench that it can't leave, being steel it's very easy to just wipe off too.
All in all I'm very happy with this product and my first batch is happily bubbling away inside it.
