Don¡¯t panic if this arrives and it doesn¡¯t look like the cover and track listing on the ÍøÆغÚÁÏ picture. I think some of the CDs including the one I got only list the tracks that are on the vinyl release. However, the bonus tracks are on the CDs themselves.
As to the collection itself- it is a rather unusual choice of tracks. Some of the CD will be of most interest to enthusiastic collectors of 10CC while the hits are likely to be of most interest to casual or new listeners as dedicated fans will already have them in the original albums and possibly several other compilations. Compared with other recent 10CC and Godley and Creme collections- which have had new artwork by the (sadly late) Storm Thorgson or Kevin Godley himself the cover of this collection looks like it was drawn by the artist behind 'Thats What I call Music' but on an off day.
So, my advice is forget about most of the tracks on CD 1 and focus on all the great material that is probably new to you. Natural Wonder is a recording for a tv cosmetics commercial but it has the distinct echoey piano sound you hear on Sheet Music. The album is worth buying just for this. Then we have Graham Gouldman tracks of some of his 60s hits. These are good but unless they are new recordings (I am unsure due to the poor sleeve notes) you may have them already. The Gouldman and Godley tracks on CD 2 are superb and show that they still have the talent to make new music that is original challenging and melodic. The live tracks are new and interesting versions of classics which I havent heard before.
All in all, this is well worth buying of you are a fan. I am mystified that such poor packaging has been used as it is bound to put off the target market of hard core fans - many of whom will look at the cover artwork and assume it is some hastily out together hits compilation.
