At a somewhat advanced age, I find a lot of new music hard to wrap my head around. However, having heard these guys on the radio, I started listening to more of their material and finally decided to buy the CD and am glad I did -- it instantly became one of my faves of the year. Wow. It's as if they've been spying on my music collection. I'm sure there's no connection, but I detect a little bit of Veda Hille, a dash of Carina Round and even the slightest hint of prog in their approach to sound and structure. It's just brilliant, albeit not without its challenges, but I love it. It feels so daring that I was even surprisd when it won the Mercury prize this year. This might be the first time in about 50 years (or even ever) that I've come even close to being ahead of the curve.
