Esoteric Recordings is proud to announce the release of a four-disc deluxe limited edition boxed set (comprising 3 CDs and a DVD) Of ‘Time Passages’, the legendary album by Al Stewart first released in September 1978.

This new deluxe edition of this special album has been newly remastered for the very first time from the original first-generation master tapes by Alan Parsons and also features his stunning new 5.1 Surround sound mix from the original multi-track tapes. In addition, the set includes single edits, an album session out-take, four demo tracks recorded in Los Angeles in August 1977 and for the first time the complete concert recorded at the studios of WKQK-FM in Chicago in October 1978.

This limited edition boxed set also features an illustrated 68-page book with a new essay featuring an interview with Al Stewart and a facsimile promotional poster and a set of four postcards and is a fitting tribute to a much treasured and legendary masterpiece by a consummate songwriter and performer.

    Just for the record (sic) I was given this set as a gift so did not buy from ÍøÆغÚÁÏ but I thought it important to clarify that the second cd is indeed different from the second disc of the 2cd version.
    Therefore the entire WKDX show appears over cds 2 and 3. So on cd2 after the singles and the demos we have

    If it doesnt come naturally
    time Passages
    and cd 3 is as listed. Same problem as Year of Cat with the poor disc housing but otherwise a nice celebration of this very accomplished album.

    Really, one has to question the mindset of releasing this marvelous package and not including the lyrics, while going to the expense of including a useless colour poster. One side of the full-size poster is blank and could have easily accommodated the lyrics.

    Though 'Year of the Cat' will always be heralded as Al Stewart's crowning achievement; 'Time Passages' was a worthy follow-up and one of the best mixed albums of the decade.

    Alan Parsons' production was brilliant; yet this edition manages to do the original one better. With the 5.1 surround mix, it's as though one is a fly on the wall as the album is being recorded.

    The inclusion of a live 'for radio' recording only helps reveal the true talent of Al Stewart, his songwriting, and his band. Stripped of Parsons' studio wizardry, we find another - equally impressive - side to these beloved songs.
