Tolsen Mitre Box & Fine Tenon Saw 300mm 12":
Considering that some sellers charge around £12 for the mitre box alone, this is pretty good value at £13.50. It so happened that I needed a mitre box that could take a 4" wide plank, and also needed a fine-toothed tenon saw, so was very happy to find them both in one fair-priced set. The saw is actually in better shape than the one in the illustration, and it's not that easy to find a 14tpi saw with hardened teeth, for this sort of price. The saw is very sharp and it cur though mahogany with ease. Unfortunately, the mitre box is a bit distorted, with one of the slots almost closed up, but it'll work, after I widen the distorded slot. That's the only reason I almost deducted one star. However, I really like the mitre box because its internal width is over 100mm and it has a lip on the underside to stop it sliding on the bench. It also has two countersunk screw holes for optionally screwing it to the bench (excellent). I wish they had put the vertical slot near the right end of the box, instead of the left. Then it would be better suited to right-handers like me. Will the cheap plastic be up to the job? Only time will tell.
