It's hard to believe this little fan can make a difference but it really has done. Our stove puts so much heat into the back boiler for the radiators that the room it's in felt like it wasn't getting much warmth. Since popping this little fan on top it's noticeable how much warmer it is on the other side of the room. Haven't mounted it on the flue yet but plan to do so, and will probably buy another one to sit on top too.

This fan works very well, and starts spinning much quicker than my top standing one. It gives off no fumes on first usage. It comes with a thermometer which is very important to get the optimum burning temperature efficiency and the all important secondary/tertiary burns from your fuel.

The instructions are clear and it's easy to manipulate the fan as required, it contains all the bits to connect on the flue or have self standing on your stove.

Do they work? I can honestly say my room heats up faster after installing this fan. Am I gaining recovered heat? I think this is hard to evaluate but in theory I should be. I did throw a feather on front of the fan and it was pushed a good half meter away from the fan.

If you have a wood stove I would recommend getting one.

The fan is of solid construction and spins when the fire is lit as advertised. It's virtually silent at full speed. I mounted mine on the stove flue where it is tidier than on top of the stove, and it spins around like a helicopter there. Reason I mounted mine on stove because I dry herbs, mushrooms and vegetables bfrom the garden on a rack over the stove for winter use. I figured a fan would reduce drying times.

However, the "Wind" or "great air circulation" around the room good enough to dry clothes that some reviews mention is farcical. I'd question the legitimacy of some of those reviews, as it has no significant impact that I can see.

When the stove is burning hot and fan blades at full throttle, I have used lengths of tissue paper to measure the actual distance the fan pushes air. Less than 1m I would say conservatively. I would suggest this to be a design flaw in the blades.
Their angle is too flat to bite into air to generate any noticeable air current. The flatter the blade, the quicker they spin, but the less effective they are.

Its basically an expensive gimmick to impress visitors. Think I'll invest in a small battery fan with better blade design that operates at higher RPM.

BTW - The temp of the side of stove is in excess of 200C according to the included thermometer in this video. The stove flue where fan is mounted would be far in excess of this. I have also tried locating fan at different heights where temperature varies, but this achieves little difference.
