Diese tolle CD enthält 25 "Sahnestücke" der mit 30 Jahren viel zu früh verstorbenen Country-Legende Patsy Cline. Die Akustik der Aufnahmen finde ich hervorragend. Nicht nur die strahlende Stimme, sondern auch die Instrumente kommen glasklar herüber. Von "Crazy" über "I fall to pieces" über "Walkin' after midnight" über "Sweet dreams (of you)" bis "Back in Baby's arms" und, und, und... Ende der 50er und Anfang der 60er Jahre kam die Country-Music viel gediegener und getragener herüber als heute. Vermutlich würden heute etliche Hörer das Wort "spießig" verwenden. Aber auch die Country-Legende Hank Williams findet gegenwärtig nicht nur (s)ein Publikum, sondern viele Musiker, die ihn als Vorbild und Inspiration erlebten. Wer "auf Retro steht" und auf Country-Music, der sollte auch an dieser Klassikerin, dieser Ikone der Country-Music, an Patsy Cline und diesem rundum gelungenen Album nicht vorbei gehen!

Peut-être plus que n'importe quel chanteur de country, l'héritage de Patsy Cline a été haché au fil du temps par de nombreux enregistrements posthumes dont la plupart sont de qualité médiocre.

Cette compilation rassemble surtout la dernière production de la carrière de Patsy, interrompue brutalement, à l'apogée de sa carrière en Mars 1963, dans un crash aérien, au retour d'un concert ; soit peu après ses derniers enregistrements, de Février. La moitié des titres de la compile vole aux sommets des charts, malheureusement à titre posthume et l'Amérique qui pleure la disparue a les glandes ...Elle n'aura d'ailleurs pas le temps de se consoler qu'en Novembre elle pleurera l'assassinat de son Président...

Le CD contient les chansons d' Irving Berlin's "Always" et Hank Williams "Your Cheatin 'Heart" qui illustrent la capacité unique de la chanteuse à faire le pont entre la conntry pure et dure avec la mélo-pop citadine. Patsy chante doucement sans monter la voix qu'elle a naturellement profonde et ample, avec un timbre ( riche et émotionnellement expressif de contralto gras) qui ne chevrotte pas, pur et long comme un coucher de soleil ; elle invente déjà le son "nashville" reconnaissable entre mille : ce qui la distingue de ses collègues du grand Sud qui chantent toutes, trait culturel forcé, avec leur nez, qu'elles ont parfois si gros que l'on ne comprend jamais ce qui en sort ! ! !

Le CD contient surtout cette mélodie de willie Nelson, la marque de ses plus grands hits de l'époque : "Crazy". Cet air est entêtant et définitivement attaché à la seule Pasty Cline. "I Fall to Pieces», «Sweet Dreams", "Walking After Midnight", sont magnifiques.

Patsy interprête aussi des standards : "Heartaches," "Always," "I Love You So Much It Hurts," "Half As Much," "Crazy Arms" et s'en sort admirablement avec un orchestre très en retrait.

À titre posthume, des millions de ses albums ont été vendus au cours des 46 dernières années et elle a reçu de nombreux prix, qui lui ont donné un statut d'icône que certains fans compare à celui des légendes Johnny Cash et Elvis Presley. Dix ans après sa mort, elle est devenue la première chanteuse solo intronisée au Country Music Hall of Fame. Sur sa plaque est écrit : « Son héritage d'enregistrements intemporel est un témoignage de sa qualité artistique. »

Ces 25 titres rassemblés et ordonnés avec discernement sont 25 ballades romantiques, aux couleurs du Sud qui racontent la même et éternelle histoire = une grande histoire d'amour.
