Is there an App included with the item?

No. You have to get a compatible third-party App from the App Store or Google Play Store (some may NOT be free).

Why do I have to pay for some features?

What features you can get mainly depends on your chosen App. Some Apps may be free to download, but some features require subscription or purchase. It's up to the App developers.

Does it read transmission temperature?

The transmission (fluid) temperature is a manufacturer specific PID so it’s not read by most generic OBD2 Apps. Please contact support for App recommendation or search for the custom PID information & add it in the App.

Does it work on electric vehicles?

It can work on most EVs, but it requires a proper App, for example Car Scanner (with the appropriate EV connection profiles), ABRP, EVNotify, EV Watchdog, etc.

Does it read trouble codes in ABS or airbag?

These systems are based on the manufacturer's proprietary protocols and generic OBD Apps won't read them. It depends on if there is a capable App for your vehicle.

With cheap ELM327 I couldn't reset my service interval, but this tool did the job and works with numerous OBD2 apps.

Connection was stable, didn't had any issues using my android device.

I have not tested this tool extensively as it probably offers a lot more than what I used it for given the price and that's it's the latest tool from VGate

The tool worked well for diagnostics, giving me a good idea of what was going on with the car. It took a bit of time to get everything set up, especially with connecting to the app, which didn’t feel as straightforward as I expected. But once connected, it’s been a reliable tool for checking fault codes and engine performance. The Bluetooth connection can be finicky sometimes, which might require reconnecting. It’s handy to have, but it could be more user-friendly. Works well for what I need it to do, but I’d appreciate a smoother setup.

Pros:

Really good, paired instantly with the app on my OnePlus mobile. Setup in minutes, very easy.

Worked a treat with my Astra-paired with my OnePlus phone in seconds, easy peasy! It works no problem with other cars I've tried either.

The fault codes are very clear and easy to understand; it helped me understand in no time why my engine light was on, instead of having to go to a mechanic.

I love the app choices available for Android. That is just great, being able to try them out and find the one that really works for you.

It works smoothly with popular OBD2 applications, therefore giving me real-time stats for my engine; it even allows me to clear codes directly from my phone. So convenient.

It's small enough to be taken in the glove box so that at any instant, I can check up on my car's health.

Verdict:

I have been really impressed with how the OBD2 Diagnostic Tool worked with my Astra. Such a tool made diagnosing issues or checking the engine light really facile and has saved me much time and money. If you enjoy being on top of your car's health, look no further than this essential tool. Extremely recommended.

The scanner came with a small booklet of third-party app operating guide.
On page Inside cover it states
(OBD APPS MUST BE DOWNLOADED & PURCHASED SEPARATELY)
The fact you had to decide which App to use I found very disappointing, In my opinion
The operating system should be inbuilt into the scanner & connect to your phone,
not expect you to spend a lot of time checking which app was suitable for your needs
& would the app maker charge for full use of the App.
I downloaded the first App in the booklet ELM327 OBD2
My car is a 2019 Peugeot 2008 1.2 pure tech 129 hp
I checked the list of vehicles, I scrolled to the bottom of list & I could not find my car
At the bottom of the list was the message.
OBD-11/EOBD (first item) shows only basic OBD-11 sensors. Tap number 1
if your car is not on the list.

Basic sensors in OBD-11 compatible Peugeot cars
I was offered the option to Upgrade to car Scanner Pro £4.59/forever

The best I could expect was a report of Basic sensors.
I decided at this point I was not prepared to spend any more time on this scanner
Downloading anymore apps. In my opinion this scanner is the equivalent of buying
A new tv & finding there is no operating system & supplied with a booklet of apps
You could download to operate the TV.

Le fait d'être libre de choisir une application et de ne pas en avoir une fournie est à la fois un avantage et un inconvénient : d'un côté, on a un plus grand choix, de l'autre, il faut bien choisir celle qui fonctionnera correctement avec le produit et toutes n'ont pas les mêmes possibilités et fonctions.
Pour ce choix, une liste d'applications compatible est fournie, ce qui est un plus.

L'appareil a l'air solide et est bien fini avec une façade indiquant clairement les différents états de connexion.
