I had a gap in my fireplace and used to have a vase of flowers there, bot have replaced with the fire grate and now I can put a scented candle on it and it looks lovely. Very sturdy and good value for money. Would definitely recommend.
An absolutely perfect fit for my fireplace with dimensions very accurate. A lovely piece which I’m using to burn logs to keep my heating costs down. I’ve seen negative reviews by people burning coal on these grates, just don’t! Burn wood, stay warm and enjoy the beautiful flames.

The front 'basket' element of the grate just 'SITS ON' the base connecting via a couple of very short tabs ... it's therefore INCREDIBLY easy to knock the front grate off loading the grate (with logs in my case but I would think the same with coal), and therefore not something you can reassuringly 'load up' with fuel. Any log that falls whilst burning will easily knock the front of the grate off so i would be concerned to leave this unattended. The ash pan is a simple metal collector no more substantial than a cheap oven baking tray, so it currently serves it's purpose but I would agree to some other negative reviews in this area the the heat created by a fire is likely going to ruin this. So for the odd fire I think overall I'm happy (like I said for the price) but if you're wanting this to serve as your daily driver to keep Mr Frost at bay you should consider paying upwards of perhaps £200 to get the quality of a traditional Victorian grate which I had at my previous house. You get what you pay for, so aside from the aformentioned I'm very happy.
The grate is sturdy, well designed and a good fit. It wasn't worth paying quite a bit more for the ash pan, doesn't hold a lot and the handle didn't fit on mine
