I bought this as I needed to replace the silicone around my shower, its a job I've never done before and being somebody who does very little DIY I figured I needed all the help I could get.

I gave it a try but just didn't find it that useful, I iswitched to just smoothing the silicone with my finger dipped in washing up liquid, this seemed to give me much more control and and I was pleased with the results, and I really didn't get in a mess as its hardly difficult to just wipe from your fingers.

Admittedly DIY isn't my thing, so maybe I was doing it wrong, but just doesn't seem much need for this item.

I had lots of bath sealing and door fixing and ahhhhhh the DIY I really don't enjoy doing. That said, this tool made it so much easier. I found that when sealing around doors in our utility room, I could squirt the sealant around, then quickly push it into tight gaps, wipe off with a tissue and then smooth to a great finish. You can twist and turn this to get into tricky areas too and once you get the knack of it, you will appreciate how well it works.
I also used on a shower, bath and two sinks. I messed one up of my own doing, but everything else was very easy. Very pleased!

Like most non diyers, I dread doing anything with home improvements and maintenance jobs.
I had noticed the sealing around my kitchen work top was getting a little bit tired. I didn’t want to attempt to seal it as my bathroom shower cubical attempt 12 months previously still haunts me every time I step foot inside it, so I didn't really want to do my kitchen...the place where everyone congregates!

After a while it was clear I needed to do something to my worktops as it was no longer sealing anything. I was going to hire somebody to come in and do the job for me, but that was very expensive, so I decided to do some research and came across this little device. I had heard of some scary stories about sealant smoother's, but decided to go for it and if it didn’t work, I would remove it and bring in a professional.

To my surprise this was extremely easy to use and looks like and actual professional has visited my house and sealed my kitchen. I will be using this little magic tool in the future.

So if you struggle with using your finger and getting a smooth finish, this tool is for you.
