I wanted a tall slim unit to store all my DVDs and this suited the bill - and it does look good and works well in the room.
The only thing I would say is that the instructions are pretty bad - but having said that I think most of it is pretty logical. The instructions do also say that it does take 2 people to put the unit together but as I live alone I had to do it by myself - and though its not easy - (it did take me about 3 hours following the instructions), I was able to do it by myself - the bookcase is split into 2 halves so it may be easier to just put each half together then join them after the frame has been completed.
The main issue I had in completing it as in the instructions was the unit was taller than I am and the join between the two units isn't the best - I can still see a small gap between the two halves and I think the holes were a little too big for the camelocks - I think that join will close up if I can hammer the lid down a bit and the pressure joins the centre bits.
Not what I expected and did try to see about refund and getting information on return but wasn't getting the information l needed so it's still in box as far as I know at friends place
Instructions absolutely appalling. Not all pieces are numbered, only some. Upon assembling the entire unit while following instructions precisely, I found the middle planks of wood were not aligned with the holes on both sides of the unit. However it was easy enough to correct the problem and the seller was helpful.
I've built many flat-pack units over the years and this one has put me off them forever. You really do need two people: one to help to interpret the instructions (made much more difficult because several of the identity labels had fallen off), and the other to hold parts in place to allow the other to align parts. A couple of pieces are ambiguous as to their location. Assembling the sections while trying to juggle the back panels in place is very difficult because some of the back panels were warped and couldn't be located into the grooves easily. The overall finish was OK for plastic veneered chipboard, and it'll do it job. But no more flat-packs! In future, I'll buy fully assembled units.
