Not a surprising headline I know, but I bought this one after sending back a similar one to a different company where 4 out of the 6 shelves actually wouldn't fit a DVD. Tricky build, as others have said they could be more generous with the PVA glue. Key to note that you should ONLY tap in the dowels to the shelf inserts and not to the side panels. There is a risk of damage if you tap in too hard to the side panels. Wood be stronger if wood was a mm thicker, but it's strong enough and does what it says on the tin.
Overall I bought two of these for a place to put my books and dvd boxsets. Now firstly the assembly is all about patience and very nik picky. I highly recommend assembling the product on the floor, doing it shelf by shelf, installing from right to left. Its the best and most effective way for end game satisfaction.
I recommend having a drill, hammer, a lot of patience and a ice cold beer to balance out the stress.
Had to stop half way into building it, ran out of glue, i would advise buying a 125ml of evo stik wood glue, at same time as buying the shelves, (sell it on here for £2.99) Came in a bigish box that was really heavy and awkward to carry, the shelf is made of chip board or mdf however looks good, ill crack on when i get the glue.
The assembly went smoothly until the final piece (the top) which required the use of cam locks. We followed the instructions and believe we inserted them correctly but, finally, the locks did not function securely. We also noticed that the back panels were standing proud. We found it impossible to loosen the cam locks in order to make a second attempt.
This shelving is brilliant does the job it's supposed to do. My only complaint is that there is no way nearly enough wood glue for the dowels but I had a big bottle of no more nails wood glue so just used that. I have two of these already and have just ordered a third.
