Why feed squirrels? Squirrels are one of the most popular wildlife. The stock situation of the squirrels depends on the availability of food. In principle, squirrels are not considered endangered. The stock figures are still tending to decline, because there are hardly any natural areas left. Not only trees are important for their habitat, but also fruit-bearing plants, which are often no longer available in sufficient quantities. Squirrels can eat around 5 to 15% of their body weight in food every day. Add as needed and decrease as the squirrels stock up. A good squirrel food should come very close to their natural diet. A balanced mixture of seeds and nuts as well as dried fruits are species-appropriate ingredients.
