I used this on a Samsung 990 PRO 2TB NVMe M.2 drive in my MSI laptop and after installing and testing there was a huge difference in the temperature. I did however use different thermals. I used the 1mm ARCTIC TP-3: Premium Performance Thermal Pad and cut it to size.

I tested with HWiNFO64 to check temperatures and CrystalDiskMark which runs a write and read test and before applying the heatsink I got over 90° when the write speed test was happening so i stopped it as I didn't want to do any damage. After installing the highest I got was 72° but it didn't stay there long and came down quite quickly. After the test it finished it was around 41°, whereas before I applied to heatsink, it was sitting around 61°. I’m quite impressed with this product.

Having upgraded to a 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD in my Huawei Matebook D 14 2020, I was concerned about the temperatures reported by Samsung Magician when the SSD was under heavy load - particularly continuous writes.

The Huawei Matebook is particularly slim and all the other SSD heat-sinks I found were too tall and prevented the case from being closed. This however, is a strip of 1 mm copper and even with the heat pad and securing bands, it just fits without obstructing the laptop lower cover grill.

Importantly, it seems to work very effectively. In normal use, the SSD temperature is reduced by about 5 degrees. Under heavy SSD load, the reduction is an impressive 10 degrees (max 52 as opposed to 62 degrees previously).

I consider that a result and I'm rather chuffed!

NOTE. Samsung Magician reports an SSD temperature above 50 degrees as 'high'. Over 55 is 'very high' and 60+ is 'too high'.
