I needed a new system to replace an old LG all in one that wasn't compatible with a new TV. After weeks of debate and research over what to get on a budget I opted to spend a little more than I'd planned on this system and I wasn't disappointed. The sound quality matches that of a system that would cost twice as much, it's clean and crisp with bass that is punchy but not overwhelming. The speakers are well matched for superb surround sound and there are plenty of options available to tweak the sound to suit your needs and what you're watching/listening to. The HDMI ARC means that the system turns on and off with the TV and switches between inputs like virgin box a d blue ray player, the volume is also controlled from the TV remote which eliminates the need for constantly switching remotes. Connection was simple enough but setup was a bit tricky, with limited instructions, but a little patience and it all came together well. Definitely not a plug and play system. Luckily I already had the wires plumbed in from the old system otherwise I would have needed to run cables around the room, so if you don't like being able to see wires and don't have the ability to hide them away this isn't the setup for you. Overall I'm very impressed and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for quality sound at a good price.

So I don't watch a huge amount of TV but the family do like to settle down for movie night once in a while. My TV is about 10 years old and always had terrible sound. We had previously upgraded to some simple soundbar but the bass was very strong and dialog wasn't that clear. So many times we had to have one person constantly adjusting the volume so we wouldn't miss quiet talking bits but wouldn't be blown off the sofa by action sequences. It made watching movies hard work.

I decided enough was enough and I was going to shell out for a decent home theater system.

This is quite a big purchase for me but I understand its really fairly inexpensive as these things go. I was worried it was going to be stupidly loud and like a sports car would have trouble being any good at low volumes etc.

Anyway I will cut this rambling review short to say it is absolutely perfect. It handles quiet volume levels perfectly. I've tuned the bass down and adjust the speaker settings so they are exactly how I want (I'm not too keen on effects sounds coming from behind the sofa so I have that very low key)

The customization and particularly the dialog boost feature it has just works a dream. Really we never feel the need to adjust the volume mid movie now. We don't miss any of the speech and the whole crispness and just all the sound quality is hugely improved. The odd bit of bass whoosh or surround sound feature gives movies a little extra cinema feel without being obtrusive. When my kids watch movies I don't find myself stomping in to the next room to tell them to turn it down OMG!!?!

Its just great for me needs. I'm pretty sure it would be great system for just about anyone, but I just wanted to share my experience that my possibly slightly different needs are fully met by this system.

It is pretty chunky and like some flexing 80's sound system, but as I'm from that era I don't mind at all and the space it takes up is more than made up for the improvement in our movie viewing.

Firstly i haven't owned a sound system for about nine years and back then the front speakers were three feet, but having lived with a sound bar for a while now i started to look at a system so i could go back to real surround. So after extensive looking and review reading i choose this one. When it arrived i was surprised by the size of the box, but this was just great packaging to keep every component safe. It took about an hour to set up. (It's been a while), our room is about 12ft square. Once i tested the system individually it was time to try a film and a CD and tv and online streaming. It took me a while to find every setting for each individual use of sound but the tv is set at minus 25-30, cd/blu ray minus 30 to 55. And online channels about minus 30-55. The sound is crisp with no distortion. Everything runs off one remote and somehow my screen picture appears clearer running through the system. I've tried Acton, drama, war movies, rap, opera, pop music, all sound great. The dedicated subwoofer kicks in when required and doesn't overpower unless the soundtrack requires it to. For £300 this is a great system, yes the speakers are plastic but this makes no difference to the excellent sound it produces. I highly recommend this product for a small to medium sized room and because the speakers are small it means i could fix them easily with just a few well placed screws and they don't look out of place.

One for the old physical format fuddy-duddies like myself. Streaming is OK, but I prefer a disc.

It was super-easy connect my 4K BD player, Sky box, Apple TV and PS4 to my 4K TV. The output is terrific quality for a unit at this price: beautiful picture, and 5.1 sound that absolutely fills my smallish living room. Recommended.

Quick shout out for the superb customer service from the seller, Richer Sounds. When the initial delivery disappeared after being delivered to the wrong address they couldn’t have been better at resolving the issue positively.

I bought this Yamaha as a replacement for my 16 year old Onkyo SR-605, which recently died.

I swapped out the Onkyo for the Yamaha but retained all my original Pansonic speakers, so I was in good position to judge the amp alone.

Wow, I was really impressed! The amp has lot more width, punch and clarity then my previous one (which I'd loved).

Next I added the speakers and was also impressed, despite them feeling "plasticky" compared to the Panasonic's. The sound is rich and the subwoofer satisfies.

Overall, I think the sound is lovely and it is astonishing value at this price.
