Product description
NOW Music is thrilled to present NOW – Yearbook Extra 1977, a spectacular 3CD collection partner to the NOW – Yearbook 1977, showcasing more fantastic hits from an unforgettable year in music.
CD1 opens with two of the greatest rock & pop groups of all time: kicking off with Queen, and the timeless ‘Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy’, followed by Electric Light Orchestra’s ‘Turn To Stone’. Donna Summer’s ‘Theme From The Deep (Down Deep Inside)’ was a Top 5 smash and a true gem, and Boney M.’s ‘Sunny’ offers a timeless disco cover. Next comes pop classics from David Parton, covering Stevie Wonder’s ‘Isn’t She Lovely’, and Leo Sayer with ‘How Much Love’, alongside Bryan Ferry’s top 15 hit ‘Tokyo Joe’. Lesser compiled tracks from Elton John with ‘Crazy Water’, and Carole Bayer Sager with ‘I’d Rather Leave While I’m In Love’, are joined by big hits from Elkie Brooks, Smokie and Showaddywaddy, plus the theme from the smash hit TV show ‘Happy Days’. The first disc concludes with a run of superb soul including from Billy Paul, Barry White, Rose Royce and George Benson with his original version of ‘The Greatest Love Of All’.
CD2 begins with a stellar run of punk and new wave. Iggy Pop’s defining ‘Lust For Life’ opens, followed by The Jam’s debut ‘In The City’ and The Clash’s anthemic ‘Complete Control’. The Stranglers bring ‘Something Better Change’, and The Boomtown Rats’ with ‘Mary Of The 4th Form’, while Blondie’s ‘Rip Her To Shreds’ continues the band’s signature mix of genres. Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers scored a big hit with ‘Egyptian Reggae’ ahead of legends Elvis Costello, and Elvis Presley. Rock from Steve Gibbons Band, Status Quo and Thin Lizzy with ‘Don’t Believe A Word’ is up next, whilst the disc slows to its close with hit country tracks from Pussycat, Glen Campbell and Linda Ronstadt’s ‘Blue Bayou’.
CD3 takes us to the heart of the dancefloor with a heady mix of disco and soul opening with Donna Summer and Shalamar both in retro mode with ‘I Remember Yesterday’, and ‘Uptown Festival’. Diana Ross brings ‘Gettin’ Ready For Love’, while Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes' ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’ hit the Top 5 and features the sublime vocals of Teddy Pendergrass. Disco cross-over hits from Tavares, Tina Charles and Van McCoy are joined by Hot Chocolate enjoying a Top 10 hit with ‘Put Your Love In Me’. Easy pop from Andrew Lloyd Webber & Barbara Dickson from ‘Evita’, and Mary Mason, The Dooleys and Brotherhood Of Man all feature ahead of the final Top 20 hit for Bay City Rollers and the lead singer of Fox, Noosha, with her solo hit ‘Georgina Bailey’ before signing off with ‘It’s My Life’, the seventh Top 20 hit for Smokie…
NOW – Yearbook Extra 1977 is a true celebration of the diverse sounds that made this year in music one of the best in pop!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 November 2024The Now Yearbook 1977 Vinyl Set is a fantastic collection that celebrates the diverse and vibrant music scene of 1977. This collection is perfect for vinyl enthusiasts and fans of 70s music like myself, offering a well-rounded snapshot of the year’s musical landscape. The sound quality is excellent, and the blue vinyl adds a visually appealing touch to the set. This compilation is a delight which I enjoy very much on a daily basis.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 November 2024i was 16 in 1977, i remember all of these hits, infact problaly bough most on single vinyl,, but its nice to ave them all on 3 albums,, great buy
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 November 2024A great collection of songs that take me back to being 14 again. Unfortunately the run off of each disc is so small that my Technics turntable auto lifts the stylus arm before the end of the last track, on all six sides, which is super annoying.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 November 2024Great sounds good mixture
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 November 2024Took me right back to 1977.
