Been using this now for several years, pretty good at keeping the cold of the ground away from you. Not as comfy as an air filled mat or air bed but sufficient for most conditions, do make sure you choose a location relatively flat and without any stones or hard bumps though as you will feel them.

Purpose:
During camping a major source of heat loss is from the ground, as such a mat provides insulation between the camper and the ground, the addition of a foil improves the performance of a standard foam mat.
