Lightweight Magnetic Clip On Keyboard
5 out of 5 stars
Lightweight Magnetic Clip On Keyboard
This keyboard isn't cheap but if you want one with a laptop layout then this is it! It snaps on magnetically to the Max Fire 11 as easy as anything which I love, there's literally no attaching to do it just does it! This means it's easy to get off when I want to use the reading cover, which is a fold back style and no keys to get in the way. My only criticism is the outside grey cover is a material style, and I'd rather it were a wipe clean style like the red rose book cover in the picture. Lovely to use though!! I recommend getting a 14" padded bag to fit all 3 items in for travelling with.

I love this keyboard. I have tried others that are not integral to the tablet and all have had issues in one way or another and ultimately led me to not use them that often. I had been toying with getting this one, I had read other reviews and take on board the point that this is a dedicated keyboard for just the fire max and quite an investment if you ever move onto another device, but I have to say I now use my fire max more than ever.
It's so much more convenient to type on the fire max than get out my laptop and all the parifialia that goes with it plus i love the fire max screen. Coupled with Office 365 and this makes the fire max a capable note taking device and good for actual productivity work.
I am especially impressed with the responsivity of the track pad. Gestures and scrolling are effortless and the key presses on the keyboard are nice and positive. Obviously you don't have to worry about charging it as it is integrated into the fire max, adhering magnetically to the fire max. It doesn't have any really noticeable effect on the battery life of the tablet that I can see either.
It does add a little weight to your tablet but not as much as you would think and it of course is made for the fire max so fits perfectly. I like the rear cover too wit the kick stand, again held on by magnets but no sign of any issues with it coming off as yet.
Yes it costs a few quid but the speed, integration and what it brings to the already brilliant fire max for me is worth every penny.

First thing first - the price. £89.99, and although I kept it in my basket for a while (including a Prime Day sale) it didn't budge. So I left it for a while, and thought about it. But the fact is I really wanted a keyboard, and even though there are a few cheaper options out there, they don't have the same instant magnetic connection to the Fire Max, they need to be charged separately - and they don't have the trackpad.
Second thing second - the keyboard. It is excellent. Really, really good. Responsive, excellent 'feel', perfect size if you can touch type (I'm using it to type this review, by the way, and yes I can touch type too), perfect size if you can't. And the trackpad is the real game changer - I basically have a really sleek, neat, lightweight, practical, speedy laptop computer. But it's also a really sleek, neat etc etc Android tablet. The keyboard connects via magnetic catches which hold it very securely - there's no bluetooth pairing or dropping out going on, if it's connected it's connected and if it's connected it's working.
Third thing last - the tablet. This does get massively reduced in Prime Day events, so keep your nerve. It's a really great Android tablet. It ships with the frankly farcical غ App Store and 'Google Play is not available' - whatever. Get on Google, find out how to instal Google Play and just do it - keep your nerve.
So - Fire Max 11, Google Play, this keyboard - it's the perfect combination. You have to get this!

The keyboard is a very clever design in the way it 'sticks' to the tablet. Its very comprehensive in its functions although you have to work hard to find out what it can do and how it works. It looks really nice and top quality as befits the top of the range Fire Tablet. The denim cover feels nice to the touch and I hope, being material, it won't stain if you drop your coffee on it or touch it with greasy fingers. At £90 it could have been something wipeable like leather of high quality immitation leather.
I originally thought it was outrageously expensive compared to other keyboards I already have but when I walking walking past a local store I saw an Apple keyboard which looked very similar indeed and it cost half as much again so maybe its pitched at the right kind of price. Its clever the way it connects to the tablet by plugging in and I like that it charges from the tablet when connected. What is a slight turnoff is that I think that, unlike the bluetooth keyboard I used to use, there is no way you can connect it to other tablets or phones which means that should something happen to the Max11 you'd just have to chuck ithe keyboard and at £90 its a lot to throw away. Depends on how you look at things but the Max11 is a nice tablet at a deservedly premium price and by the time you add the keyboard its an expensive combination. If you upgrade The Max11 at sometime when it gets updated, there is no guarantee that the keyboard will be useable on the new machine. So in short as a keyboard it is very good providing you can find instructions for use. As a protector of the tablet it doesn't inspire confidence but I don't want to drop it to test it. Sizewise it makes the combined unit very little larger than the basic tablet so thats another positive. The keyboard's use as a stand is fine and easy to use but I do wonder how long it will be before the stand flap (which is excellent) becomes loose and stops supporting. I do like it a lot but on the basis of cost and future use, I would advise caution.

    I love this!
The keyboard/case does not add any substantial bulk to the Fire Max 11 tablet. The design is really superbly done, where it integrates with the Max 11 perfectly. It even draws its power from the Max 11 which is great as it saves having to charge up the keyboard independently. Data is also via contacts between the Max 11 and the case itself. Fully integrated.

In use - the keyboard is very well spaced, I am a touch-typist and the keys lend themselves to my hands perfectly. Not too close or small. The touchpad works as well as does my MacBook, with all the expected gestures working as I would expect them to.

All in all, if you buy the Fire Max 11 make sure you pick up this keyboard also. غ were selling as a bundle at the time of purchase.
