I was worried how sturdy this would be and if it would cause any damage to the PS5 itself as the part it's suppose to clip onto is a thin part of plastic that can bend rather easily with weight/pressure. However, seems to be working great and not damaging my PS5, so good in my books! Look a little wiggling to get it to clip sturdy into place when placing the portal onto, but looks great and keeps my device safe and close to the PS5

The portal is a great device, but it's quite large and can get in the way. I wanted a place to store it, but I also wanted it to be easily accessible when needed, when stored in a case it adds an extra step between you and your device. That's why I like this; it keeps the portal out of the way but also within easy-grabbing reach. The device feels secure, and I don't feel like it can damage my PlayStation casing. It works well for me, as needed.

In the box you get the stand and a USB-A to USB-C cable. This clips onto the PS5, ( PS5 has to be in the upright position ) and the portal sits in the stand, it's actually quite firmly held in place which surprised me, but hey, brownie points for that. My one complaint is, there is no port built into the stand, you physically have to push the USB-C cable through the hole, push it into the charge port on the portal, then sit the portal on the stand, which if i'm being honest is a bit of a pain. Nice stand, could be better.

I was initially concerned about the sturdiness of this stand and whether it might damage my PS5, especially since it attaches to a relatively thin plastic section of the console. This part of the PS5 isn’t exactly designed to handle a lot of weight or pressure, so I was skeptical about how well it would hold up. Thankfully, those concerns turned out to be unfounded. Once clipped into place, the stand feels secure and doesn’t appear to put any undue strain on the PS5. It took a bit of effort and some wiggling to get it perfectly positioned, but now that it’s properly installed, it works as intended and feels solid.

The design of the stand is simple yet effective. It holds the portal surprisingly firmly in place, which was a pleasant surprise. It looks sleek and complements the PS5’s design, keeping the portal safe and conveniently close to the console. However, while it does the job it’s supposed to, there are a few notable drawbacks that hold it back from being truly great.

The biggest issue for me is the lack of a built-in charging port. Perhaps I was expecting a little much from a £7.99 (at time of this review) stand but I was expecting sort of a semi seamless, drop-and-charge experience, but unfortunately, this stand doesn’t deliver that.
Instead, you need to manually feed the included USB-C cable through the stand’s opening and physically plug it into the portal before placing the portal on the stand. While this setup technically works, it feels unnecessarily inconvenient especially when many other charging stands on the market offer a much more user-friendly solution with integrated ports (but of course at a cost).

Additionally, the fact that the PS5 must be in an upright position for this stand to work might not suit everyone’s setup. If you keep your PS5 in a horizontal position, this product won’t be compatible, which is a limitation worth noting.

That said, the stand does have its positives. It’s a simple and affordable way to keep your portal secure and organised, and it doesn’t compromise the aesthetic or functionality of your PS5. Once everything is set up, it holds the portal firmly in place and looks good while doing it.

Overall, this is a functional accessory that gets the job done, but it’s not without its flaws. The lack of a built-in charging port is a noticeable inconvenience, and the setup process could be smoother. However, if you’re looking for a basic stand to keep your portal safe and accessible, and you don’t mind the extra step of manually plugging in the USB-C cable, this is a decent option. Just don’t expect it to be the most polished or advanced stand on the market. A few design improvements could have made this a much better product, but as it stands, it’s okay for what it is.
