Sturdy metal construction, very nice looking looks like steel. Gives a bright clear cool light that can be directed as needed by moving the flexible neck, so could be used as an uplight or directed at plants etc when not being used for reading.
I will use it mostly for sitting in armchair and reading or knitting.
Came with clear assembly instructions (though i did add a touch of vegetable oil onto the threads to make it easier to screw the poles together.)
After addrmbly, I did have to undrew and re-screw the poles in order to pop on the circular loop that the electric cord goes through, which was a little unwieldy to do because of the now top-heavy bulb and shade, but it only took a minute.
All the parts came in a strong cardboard box inside an outer box
and the packaging was well- designed to protect the components. Even the light bulb box was securely fastened to the inner packaging.
Supplier is a London-based company.
All in all I think I made a good choice.
Not cheap, but quite good value for this quality of item.
