This is a stylish floor lamp in a traditional design. There is a high gloss (very shiny) brass finish on the pole and base. The base itself is quite solid and helps to keep the lamp quite firm on the floor.
Assembly is straight forward. All the pieces are covered in plastic with the mains lead running through them so you don't have to wonder which piece goes where. The bottom of each of the pole sections has a black plastic ring, this is added to prevent one pole scratching another in transit and so needs to be carefully prised off before you screw one piece into the next. The most difficult part to install was the harp shaped fitting that goes on the top - put one side into the bracket, hold it very firmly and push hard on the other side to fit that one, it will then be very secure. Unscrew the finial, screw in an appropriate light bulb (I am using an LED smart bulb to link it with my ÍøÆغÚÁÏ Echo smart speaker), place the lamp shade on top and secure it in place by screwing the finial back on. If the lampshade looks a little lopsided, simply unscrew the finial a little so that it sits neatly.
Obviously, care needs to be taken when screwing one section into another to avoid scratching the surface. I kept the plastic coverings on each section and used them to hold whilst inserting them, then very carefully cut away the plastic bags when it was all finished. The cellophane also needs to be removed from the lampshade.
The lampshade itself is quite decent for the price, especially when so many other lamp models come with simple parchment/paper shades. This one is nicely pleated and has a lining. The colour is a yellow cream but looks quite warm once the light is turned on. The design of this floor lamp is to look compact and "dainty", and it does that. On a personal level, I would have preferred the lampshade to be about 4 or 5 cm longer but I am not complaining since I knew this was a shade on the shorter side in order to achieve the dainty design.
A note on the shade and fitment. The seller describes the shade has having a "spider fitting". Rather than the traditional fittings we see on lampshades, this shade just has 3 brass bars close to the top fixed into a small brass ring, and it is this brass ring that is placed over the top screw before replacing the finial. Before ordering I read through the questions and some of the reviews on this page. One question asked how to replace the shade for an alternative and the seller had responded that a special reducer ring was included. There was no reducer ring in my box so I contacted the seller through the ÍøÆغÚÁÏ messaging system. I received a prompt reply that stated the question had been answered incorrectly and they would take steps to modify the answer, there is no reducer ring and if a replacement shade is ever needed then buyers would need to find one that had the "spider fitting". However, given how nice the shade is and that all buyers know the colour in advance, I doubt if there would be a need to change it.
Lamps are expensive, floor lamps can be priced really high, but I am pleased with this purchase. It is not too large, it does not "overpower" the room, gives off a good light from the LED smart bulb (I used a Philips Smart bulb, available from ÍøÆغÚÁÏ), and I felt it had been priced about right. There are no marks on the brass areas, no scratches, not even a stray fingerprint from the factory. The shade was in perfect condition. Assembly was straightforward. All in all, a good purchase that I am happy to recommend.
