I wanted a temporary pot to replant a rose that was in a wooden half barrel which had rotted and fallen apart. I thought at this price it would do until I got a new wooden pot, however, the barrel has exceeded my expectations and I am going to keep the rose in it. It looks attractive planted up and although the plastic is fairly thin, it seems robust. I am thinking of making the spare barrel into a mini pond as the barrels are watertight until you drill drainage holes. I put my barrel onto a stand with wheels to provide space for drainage and because once it is full it is very heavy. My only reservation is that the thin plastic may not provide much protection against the cold in winter, but at least it won't rot.
