It is a solid sturdy table. If you can assemble Ikea furniture you should have no problems. The top is heavy so helps to have 2 people to assemble the item. Extending sections are not difficult to fit by 1 person. It is a bit of a fiddle using the extension holding clips (which are under the table) but not a big issue for occasional use.
Generally been used with a waxed cotton cloth on top - so difficult to comment on use with the bare top. But it has not ring marked due to e.g. hot tea/coffee mugs placed onto the thin waxed cotton layer. We are very happy with it. Can't comment on long term durability as only had it for a couple of months.
