This simplistic yet stylish double power socket from the BG Electrical Nexus range at Luceco, comes with three USB charging ports, allowing you to plug in electrical devices and charge mobile devices simultaneously without having to sacrifice power sockets.

With its square edge finish, the white moulded wall plate will seamlessly fit with any style or décor in your home, and with the backbox included with a minimum mounting depth of 25mm – ideal for retrofit.

I haven't had to change a plug for many years but after my daughter broke hers (the ends of a plug came off in the socket) I had to change it. I saw this one that not only had the two sockets but also 3 USB charging ports and after watching the install video decided to pick it up. My daughter has so many things that use a USB port.
This came fast, was super easy to install and fitted perfectly in to the the same place once I took the old plug part out. Hopefully there will be no problems in the future but at the moment everything works and I and my daughter are super happy with it. Would recommend these to anyone else needing to change a socket. Great idea.

I preferred this style as the three USB ports down the middle of the plate don't get hidden by the power supplies that come with some appliances. The type with two USB ports across the top wouldn't have been suitable for me. After fitting, I had to switch each socket on before inserting a couple of power supplies as they covered the switch when plugged in but at least the USB ports are accessible. Plain plugs wouldn't present the same problem.
The faceplates fitted easily into 25mm back-boxes. The only issue I had was that the MK faceplates I was replacing had their wiring terminals positioned differently so I had to tease some extra cable out of the wall to terminate the new faceplates. If you're interested, the BG faceplate's terminals are positioned across the top and are earth, neutral andl live looking from the front of the plate. The earth and live terminals are just behind the left and right switches respectively and the neutral is just right of centre. The MK faceplates are also across the top but are LNE looking from the front so I had to pull out a bit of extra wire in order to cross the L and E conductors.
The first trial after fitting was to charge an iPad which seemed to charge a lot faster than it does with it's own supplied charger. That said, it was the only device plugged in at the time so could draw all of the 3.1A this faceplate claims to supply. Bear in mind that plugging in additional devices will mean that the supply from the faceplate will be shared between them so each device will charge a little more slowly.
Very pleased overall and my wife thinks it's the way to go so who am I to argue?!

Unlike some similar products, this socket has all the USB connectors in a row down the middle. This is great, because most other makes have them under the mains sockets, so if you have a modular power supply plugged in, it covers some of the USB outputs.
