This round parasol base is perfect for securing your garden parasol so that you can relax, socialized and dine at fresco whilst shaded from the sun, this round parasol base is made from heavy-duty compound concrete and weighs a hefty 11 kg to provide the utmost stability in windy weather. Its weight makes it a great choice for anchoring larger parasols, such as cantilever parasols. The base has a stainless steel tube to hold the pole of your parasol in place and comes with three adapters to accommodate poles with a diameter of 30 mm, 35 mm or 38 mm. A tightening screw allows you to firmly secure the pole, whilst rubber gliders help to protect your patio from scratches. They also enable you to drag the base to a new location without damaging floors.

We needed something to keep our bird feeder upright and stable, even though it had 4 prongs to fit into the ground, it would not remain upright or stable. It also had to be moved off the lawn every time the grass was mown. We researched many parasol bases as they all have varying pole widths.

This base is ideal and the feeder pole fits perfectly. We did wonder if we would need to pack out the bird feeder pole slightly to ensure a snug fit but with the two strong screws in the parasol base there was no need, the pole fitted in and was secured perfectly. However, we did need to saw about a foot off the bird feeder pole as it was far too high fitted in the base, bearing in mind that around 12 inches of the feeder pole was originally inserted into the ground and the parasol base is actually sitting on the ground.

I bought this to replace a similar base I had had for some years and which broke when the main screw at the bottom rusted and sheared.

The base is sufficiently heavy to be stable for my purposes i.e. supporting a bird feeder.

One thing to be aware of however is that whilst the base comes with some adaptors for different pole sizes (although one of the them was missing in my case) none were small enough for my bird feeder. I was able to remedy this as I have a 3D printer and was able to design and print a suitable adaptor for myself. I suspect this is not an option for the majority of purchasers in which case I can’t recommend this base for narrower bird feeders. However, with my home-made adaptor in place all is fine and stable and the birds are happy again.
