This is a very handy mini tripod by SmallRig. It's very sturdy and stable, essential qualities for a tripod, and the weight is reassuringly firm. It's not too lightweight that it will blow over or wobble too easily.
The ball head is separate, and it's got a very nice fluid like panning action. Tripods and heads like this are best suited for static camera shots, microphone placement or small lighting setups. I will be using mine with either an action camera, un-manned wide DSLR camera shots or using it to hold a miniature battery powered light in the right position. This would also suit v-logging and blogging. It's got a bubble level in the head, which ensures correctly positioned head set-up.
The tripod legs have anti-slip rubber on the feet, and the legs are secure in different opening amounts by friction, adjustable by allen key, if needed increasing. The ball head screws onto the tripod by a 3/8" thread screw which is already built into the tripod head, I don't think this can be removed. The ball head's locking thumb locks are very secure in holding pan and tilt positioning.
One piece of feedback I'd give if there were ever manufacturing changes, is the legs would be more secure in different positions if they were held with a clip and geared end arrangement (like Sirui products for example), which would prevent any slippage of the legs in various stages of opening, rather than just via friction alone. However, a minor detail and only one which would matter if the user has a very heavy set-up.
It's very well made, as are all SmallRig products, and I'd wholeheartedly recommend this item!
