Build up quite easily, although the spanner that was in the box was the wrong side being much too big for the bolts. I had all the right tools in the garage so this was not a problem.

This chipper appears much larger in the ad, and I was surprised by the compactness when it came. Its still reassuringly heavy though. The wiring for the starter and battery pack is a complete 'Monkeys nest' I'm sure with a little extra thought and perhaps some sort of routing in a sleeve this could be easily made to loo, at the very least, tidy. the mess that it is loses it a star for me.
The machine itself works very well, although I have, so far, only given it light use. It drags wood through the cutters and chips extremely well. I also feed through a large number of sweetcorn stalks, complete with some immature corns and leaves. They did need a bit of shoving, but nothing too difficult. The following stalk was sufficient pressure and the result was some very satisfying mush for my compost bins.
So far so good but only four stars the loss for untidy wiring that even my wife noticed!

We have got through so many garden shredders over the years (the one before this set alight!) that we thought it time to make the move to something more robust. I must say, this was an excellent choice. It went through a pile of cuttings from our large apple tree without missing a beat. From 50+mm diameter down to the twigs. The only downside it that our compost bins are now overflowing! It arrived in two boxes and took two of us around 30-40 minutes to assemble. The instructions are easy to follow as long as you remember the additional "inserts" for the battery starter, etc. Once assembled the engine was filled with oil to the little dipstick on the oil cap, filled with petrol, pulled on the rope starter a couple of times to get everything flowing, and then started first time on the electric starter. I think it would cope with much larger diameter pieces of wood but there is a restrictor at the top of the feeder. I read somewhere that this had to be fitted to get a CE mark for Europe. I think there are 4 screws that hold it in, so.........!

Assembly straight forward, make sure you read the addendum for the battery holder first. One person can easily assemble this. Arrives in two boxes.

For safety there's two pins that need to be located in the exit chute. This will just block the exit chute.

Similarly, the main chute has a panel that limits the size of branches that can be put through. Good luck using the chipper with that in place.

When it's running, this chipper is perfect for a medium sized garden. Wish I'd bought one years ago. Take with a pinch of salt the claimed 50mm branches. Not an issue for me as I put those into the wood burner. Otherwise it's terrific in getting through most stuff, although too much green will clog it.

Now the negatives.

Customer service is dire. I've reported a problem with starting it when warm (see video) and not had a response - this is both by phone and email. The chipper should start without having to use the choke when hot. On mine, you have to flip the choke on and then off immediately whilst turning it with the key for it to start.

The manual recommend 5w30 oil which I find smokes a lot with the choke on. Forest master on their site recommend 10w40.

The other negative is that there's a bolt that fixes the chute to the main body. This bolt acts as a safety mechanism. Because there is no easy way to manoeuvre the chipper bar the chute, it's quite easy for this bolt to be sheared. So when moving the chipper never pull, always push. That way the force is acting down into the body and not stressing the bolt.

I'm happy with my purchase, and will update this review when I get a response from forest master.

Further UPDATE. Problem solved by removing the input restrictor plate. Working fine now.

I bought this shredder to reduce the number of trips I have to make to the tip from our very large garden.
I reviewed all the electric shredders and was concerned at the negative comments so opted for this powerful petrol driven unit. Good finish and a quality feel.

Within 15 minutes it was clogged and getting out the socket wrench, removed the discharge shute and dug out a wedge of very fine dust.

I had been feeding small leafy growth.

This unit is not suitable for green vegetation.

Absolutely perfect for shredding bamboo of which we have plenty. However, if you feed a long shoot with green leaf growth at the top it just spits out the leaves whole.

The intake is limited by a plate so can only take STRAIGHT wood like bamboo.

For general garden use it is too limited and for that matter too expensive.

Disappointed, as for the money, I though I could just shove anything in.

Der Häcksler kommt in zwei relativ kleinen Paketen (direkt aus Großbritannien), die aus unerfindlichem Grunde stark nach Zigarettenrauch riechen. In einem Paket befindet sich der Motor, in dem anderen Paket der Rest als Bausatz. Aber keine Panik, der Häcksler besteht lediglich aus einer sehr überschaubaren Zahl an Einzelteilen - ein Ikea-Schrank ist komplizierter im Aufbau. ;o)

0.) Benötigtes Werkzeug: 10er Ringschlüssel, 13er Ringschlüssel, 13er Maul-Ringschlüssel, optional auch kleiner Steckschlüsselsatz 1/4" oder 3/8"), Spitzzange (für den Radsplint), Gummihammer (für die Zierkappen der Achsen), optional 8er Ringschlüssel und PH2/PH3 Kreuzschlitzschraubendreher
1.) Achse in die Führungsschiene stecken, auf jeder Seite Unterlegscheibe + Rad + Unterlegscheibe aufstecken. Das Rad mit einem Splint sichern (an den Enden umbiegen) und eine Zierkappe auf die Achsenden drücken.
2.) Der Motor wird auf einem Holzbrett geliefert, welches mit zwei Schrauben am Motor angeschraubt ist. Schrauben lösen (diese werden danach nicht mehr benötigt) und Brett entfernen. Motor auf das Häckslergestell setzen (Richtung aus dem Bild in der Anleitung entnehmen).
ACHTUNG: Wenn man das Modell mit Elektrostarter erworben hat, muss die Batteriehalterung inkl. Batterie zusammen mit dem Motor festgeschraubt werden. Die Batteriehalterung sitzt unter dem Häckslergestell und wird mit den selben Schrauben wie der Motor zusammen festgeschraubt. Die Batteriekabel am besten vorher mit der Batterie verbinden (geht aber auch noch nachträglich, ist allerdings fummeliger).
Wenn man das Modell ohne Elektrostarter erworben hat, wird an dieser Stelle einfach nur der Motor mit 4 Schrauben am Häckslergestell festgeschraubt.
3.) Einfülltrichter mit einer langen Schraube, die wie ein Gelenk wirkt, anschrauben und auf der anderen Seite mit einer kleineren Schraube fixieren.
Anmerkung: Im Einfülltrichter befinden sich mehrere Sicherheitsvorrichtungen, die bei Bedarf oder für Wartungszwecke rekombiniert/entfernt werden können. Am oberen Einfüllende befindet sich ein Reduzierblech, welches wohl verhindern soll, dass man in den Einfülltrichter bis runter zum Häckselmesser greifen kann. Weiter unten im Trichter sitzt noch ein Gummilappen, der das Hinausschleudern von Häckselgut abfangen soll. Hinter dem Gummilappen (der schon sehr dick und starr ist), befindet sich eine noch starrere Kunststoffplatte aus einem transparenten Kunststoff.
4.) Auswurfschacht mit einer langen Schraube, die wie ein Gelenk wirkt, anschrauben und auf der anderen Seite mit zwei kleineren Schrauben fixieren.
5.) 600ml Motoröl 10W30 auffüllen, mit Peilstab den Ölstand prüfen und ggfs. korrigieren.
Wenn man das Motoröl von Liqui Moly für Gartengeräte im 1L Gebinde nimmt, hat der Ölbehälter einen sehr praktischen, ausziehbaren Einfüllschlauch, mit dem sich das Öl prima in die kleine Öffnung des Ölmessstabs einfüllen lässt.
6.) Benzin auffüllen (Super, kein E10 und auch kein Super Plus)
7.) Benzinhahn öffnen
8.) auch bei warmem Wetter den Choke ein wenig öffnen
9.) ein wenig Gas mit dem Gashebel geben
10.) Motor mit dem Zündschlüssel (bei Modell mit Elektrostarter) bzw. Seilzug anlassen.
11.) Sobald der Motor läuft mehr Gas geben und den Choke langsam rausnehmen. Den Motor ca. 3 Minuten warmlaufen lassen.
12.) Der Häcksler ist nun einsatzbereit

Meine Erfahrungen mit dem Häcksler sind bisher sehr positiv. Der Häcksler häckselt tatsächlich Äste bis ca. 50mm schnell, kraftvoll und gleichmäßig durch. Selbst recht trockenes Holz (insofern nicht dicker als ca. 40mm) bereitet ihm noch keine Probleme. Habe gerade einige große Koniferen mit mehr als einem Meter langen Ästen durch den Häcksler gejagt. Auch das viele grün hat dem Häcksler keine Probleme bereitet. Allerdings können größere, stark verästelte Zweige Probleme wegen des geringen Querschnitts des Einfülltrichters am unteren Ende verursachen. Man sollte daher eine kleine Astschere bereithalten, um dieses Problem zu vermeiden. Sehr knorrige Äste können ähnliche Probleme verursachen.

Tipps:
1,) Da die Häckselwalze direkt auf der Motorwelle sitzt, sollte man der Motorlager zuliebe das Häckseln zu dicker und/oder trockener/harter Hölzer vermeiden.
2.) Beim Beenden der Arbeit sollte man den Benzinhahn zudrehen und den Motor laufen lassen, bis er von alleine ausgeht. Das macht man, damit sich kein Benzin mehr in der Schwimmerkammer des Vergasers befindet. Das Ethanol im Benzin ist hygroskopisch - es zieht Wasser aus der Umgebungsluft an. Das Wasser sammelt sich in der Schwimmerkammer des Vergasers und sorgt dafür, dass der Motor beim nächsten Mal schlecht oder gar nicht anspringt oder ständig wieder ausgeht.
3.) Wird der Häcksler längere Zeit (Wochen oder gar Monate) nicht gebraucht, sollte man auch das Benzin aus dem Tank ablassen. Da das Ethanol auch im Tank Wasser aus der Umgebungsluft aufnimmt, kann das Wasser für Korrosion im Tank sorgen. Rost im Tank ist äußerst schlecht, da die Rostpartikel sich ablösen und die Düse des Vergasers verstopfen können. Außerdem schaden die Rostpartikel dem Motor. Als dem Benzin noch Blei zugesetzt wurde, hatte man dieses Problem nicht, da das Blei einen Schutzfilm auf der Tankinnenseite bildete. Seit der Einführung des bleifreien Sprits muss man hier entsprechend vorsichtiger sein.
4.) Die Häckselmesser sind von Werk an gut eingestellt. Wenn diese aber abgenutzt oder stumpf sind, müssen diese ausgebaut, geschliffen oder gewendet (Wendemesser - beidseitig angeschliffen) und anschließend neu eingestellt werden. Die Häckselmesser sollen laut Handbuch einen Abstand von 0,25mm zu den Gegenschneiden haben. Den Abstand kann man mit einer Fühlerlehre einstellen oder man besorgt sich ein 0,25 mm dickes Blech, vorzugsweise aus V4A Edelstahl in der passenden Größe. Da die Schrauben möglicherweise mit Loctite (flüssige Schraubensicherung) gegen unbeabsichtigtes Lösen gesichert sind, sollte man die Schrauben nicht mit roher Gewalt lösen, wenn diese sehr fest sitzen. In diesem Fall empfiehlt es sich die Schrauben mit einem Heißluftföhn oder Brenner zu erhitzen (aber vorsichtig). Macht man das nicht, läuft man Gefahr eine Schraube abzureißen und dann hat man viel Arbeit vor sich. Beim Zusammenbau empfiehlt es sich, neue und hochfeste Schrauben der Güte 12.9 zu verwenden. Man sollte an jede Schraube einen Tropfen Loctite Schraubensicherung 243 (blau) geben und die Schrauben mit dem für die Schraubengüte (es gibt Tabellen darüber) empfohlenen Drehmoment festziehen. Macht man das nach Gefühl und insbesondere, wenn man die alten Schrauben wiederverwendet, läuft man Gefahr eine Schraube abzudrehen (viel Arbeit) oder die Schrauben nicht fest genug anzuziehen. In diesem Fall können sich die Messer verstellen, wodurch der Häcksler laufend verstopft oder es kann sich eine Schraube des Häckselmessers lösen, was mit ziemlicher Sicherheit einen Totalschaden des Häckslers nach sich ziehen dürfte. Arbeiten an den Häckselmessern daher bitte mit äußerster Sorgfalt durchführen.

Le broyeur est puissant, tout y passe, même de grosses branches d'un peu plus de 5 cm de diamètre. Je conseille de prendre la version avec batterie et démarreur, pour le petit supplément, cela vaut le coup. Le seul point faible est l'attache des roues, qui me semble peu résistante, mais pas de souci à ce jour. Attention, le montage n'est pas si simple, surtout si l'on suit le manuel pas à pas et qu'on a la version avec démarreur. C'est après avoir monté le bloc moteur que l'on découvre qu'il faut le faire autrement si on a le démarreur (j'ai dû tout recommencer). Je pense en conclusion que c'est sans doute la meilleure machine à ce niveau de prix.

Le broyeur est puissant, tout y passe, même de grosses branches d'un peu plus de 5 cm de diamètre. Je conseille de prendre la version avec batterie et démarreur, pour le petit supplément, cela vaut le coup. Le seul point faible est l'attache des roues, qui me semble peu résistante, mais pas de souci à ce jour. Attention, le montage n'est pas si simple, surtout si l'on suit le manuel pas à pas et qu'on a la version avec démarreur. C'est après avoir monté le bloc moteur que l'on découvre qu'il faut le faire autrement si on a le démarreur (j'ai dû tout recommencer). Je pense en conclusion que c'est sans doute la meilleure machine à ce niveau de prix.

Hallo Leute,
dieser Häcksler ist ein kleines Monster. Der Motor läuft absolut sauber und die Maschine macht bis auf die Räder einen wirklich grundsoliden Eindruck. Er frisst eingentlich alles was man reinsteckt enorm flott und macht feines Häckselgut daraus. Ab einer gewissen Dicke ist halt je nach Holzart schluss. Das sind dann aber Durchmesser, wo sämtliche Baumarktgeräte, ja sogar die teuren Stihlgeräte längst aufgegeben haben. Das liegt vielleicht z. Teil auch daran, das für den EU-Markt Begrenzer für den Einwurf- als auch für den Auswurf verbaut sind bzw. beiliegen. Weg damit und ab geht die Post. Leute die beim Radfahren nen Helm tragen, können die Begrenzer ja drin lassen. Es ist halt wie bei den Autos. Die Leistung wird durch Katalisatoren und AGR anfällig und reduziert.
Nun zu den Rädern. Die wirken ein wenig wackelig, was im Betrieb aber nicht auffällt. Kann man einfach mit ein paar zusätzlichen Unterlegscheiben lösen, wenn es stören sollte.
Betreibe ihn mit AspenSPRIT, wie alle meine 4 und 2 takter Gartengeräte. Kein Verkleben der Vergaser bei längeren Standzeiten und kein Spritgestank an den Händen und im Betrieb.
Das einzige Problem, was aber eher ein Luxusproblem ist, ist der hier auch schon mal genannte Transport.
Der Häcksler ist ja recht klein und wenn mann ihn zu seinem Einsatzort im Garten schiebt muss man sich schon ordentlich nach unten bücken. Mein Garten ist 110 m lang und das geht mir dann auf die HWS.
Werde mir eine Haltestange oder ein 4 rädriges Unterwagengestell bauen.
Ansonsten absolute Kaufempfehlung
