I always wanted to try the NeoGeo CD controller, and with this wireless controller that could be possible. The quality is amazing and I was not expecting to feel so good on my hands. The D pad is the best for arcade games that I have ever tried and everything else feels great. The only thing that could be improved is the Xinput compatibility directly from bluetooth instead of having to use the dongle. Either way I use via bluetooth as a direct input controller set the buttons on retroarch.

While the Controller feels great in the hands, shoulder buttons feel nice and face buttons nice and large, controller perfect for platform games and beat em ups / emulators due to large face buttons.

The dpad takes some getting used to due to using microswitches, some games its preferable (beat em ups) but other games it can slow down your play/movement, like Metal Slug plays better with analogue stick control where as sonic/mario with dpad on this controller is pretty good.

Issue I am facing is inconsistent micro switches for dpad, while with micro switches it is easier to pull off quarter moves than regular dpad, due to the switches all feel and sound different pulling off a down right quarter circle is very mushy compared to a left up, the down microswitch on my dpad just feels off (not enough click).

Obviously everyones controller may feel and sound different, but I feel like I am missing alot of moves with this inconsistency due to the micro switches, not sure if its down to quality control issue, but I would need to buy and test several of these to find one that feels perfect for me.

A high-quality construction and great homage to the original. Having owned a couple NGCDs, I have a special place in my heart for their wonky little controller. I played many first rounds of fighting games over and over with the "click click" of the microswitched marvel singing me to my defeat once the NeoGeo Hard rounds started. And while this isn't a 1:1 match, it sings in the same key.
The 'click' is more of a 'clack,' but a very pleasant clack it is. It almost has a bamboo windchime tone, versus the 'pinging' click of the original. The feel is wonderful. Pulling off a half circle is auditorily and tactilely satisfying. This is the mechanical keyboard of 6 button controllers. The buttons are pleasant plastic with good travel and decent response. The shoulder buttons, while apocryphal, are a very welcome addition, allowing this as an easy option for Genesis, SNES, GBA, and other 6 button offerings.

FPGA fans should rejoice given the recent news regarding cores coupled with this timely controller. Good stuff.
