When will I learn to look at the dimensions of an item before purchasing? This is much smaller than I expected which is only a problem because I feed a lot of birds and that means frequent refilling. I like to keep peanuts, sunflower seeds, and birdseed on my feeders that are on the edge of the woods to attract the Jays, squirrels, and bigger birds while I feed my song birds up near the house. If I allow the squarrels access to peanuts, they don't bother my song bird feeders very often.

This is well made and certainly can be cleaned by removing the bottom bolts but it isn't as easy as my higher-end feeders which come apart by simply squeezing the tabs to release the bottom. I'm happy that this has a solid wire handle as it won't twist in the wind and with use. The mesh is thick enough I expect this to hold up with use and weather.

Self professed bird nerds (and cats) in my house. We have a baffled bird feeder pole out in our front yard and my 2 oldest feeders plastic housing fell apart this autumn. Since I didn't need a squirrel proof feeder, I started considering my needs.

We're near a water source, wooded areas, and meadows. Our lot has 40 year+ oaks, holly, and shrubs. We're also in a good migratory area although that's more spring/fall than middle November. Many gluttonous birds, so large capacity preferred. Wide variety of birds so a standard perch feeder as well as a clinger feeder were needed. Our typical daily visitors are Nuthatches, Carolina or Northern chickadees, woodpeckers- Red Belly, Downy- Titmouse, Bluebirds, Goldfinches, House finches, House sparrows, House wrens, Carolina wrens, Robins, Cardinals, with infrequent but at least monthly visits by Hairy and Pileated woodpeckers.

Feeders are protected by a baffle that's 40" off the ground and more than 18" from any climbable surface so it does NOT need to be squirrel proof.

Functionally, I want feeders that can be completely disassembled and sanitized for the safety of my feathered friends. I also want an easily filled feeder that I can place near my seed bucket and use a scoop to fill it. This can be completely taken apart with a few screws. Additionally, the lid lifts up and the metal bar rotates so that the lid is out of the way- perfect.

Our needs require more than 1 type of bird feeder. This clinging feeder works really well for woodpeckers, nuthatches, and even some of the smaller perching birds like chickadees and titmice.

My photos compare this feeder to another by the same company. This feeder is numbered 2 in my photos.
Photos were taken less than 24 hours after I filled all of the feeders pictured plus a 4 block suet holder. The birds were outright swarming the feeders.
