Very useful and compact Memory Card Reader - USB-A and USB-C connections are one of the main reasons why I need this super handy and excellent working Card Reader from Benfei.

Supports SD cards types of SDHC, SDXC, MMC-Micro, RS-MMC
Supports TF Cards types of Micro SD, Micro SDHC, Micro SDXC#
Connection ends are USB-A and USB-C with nice protective caps

As I routinely and daily need to connect and transfer data from memory cards between Windows devices, Mac Laptops, Android tablets and phones and the occasional iPhones/iPads this has been a very unique and and helpful ports for both USB-A and USB-C. I also have used this to copy/transfer files in my work for working on servers and network devices for file transfers and upgrades.

Each and every time it works great and with expected and good copy/transfer/upload rates betwen my devices. Works across multiple platforms and OS's out there so again excellent to have handy at all times so much so that I have not just clipped this to my keyring to ensure that I always have it with me.

If you are camera and photography enthusiast, work in technology or simply want a card reader that is going to work across these devices and work well then this Benfei Card Reader is the one that I would choose.

BENFEI SD Card Reader, USB C to SD Micro SD Card Memory Card Adapter Dual Slot Compatible with iPhone 15

Having both a USB-A and a USB-C connector makes this card reader more useful

I tested this out connected to a USB-C 3.1 port and used a bog-standard Sandisk Ultra 32GB micro SD card (I didn't have anything faster to hand). The card was new and pre-formatted to FAT32.

Transfer Write speed for a 2GB file was around 35MB/s
Transfer Read speed for the same file was around 86MB/s

Tested with Crystal Disk Mark, the speeds were:
Write 37.49 MB/s
Read 93.01MB/s

These are the sort of speeds I'd expect from the low speed Sandisk card, so I'm happy with that

I tried the card reader in the USB-C port on my Galaxy J12 phone and the reader was instantly recognised. The 2GB video file I'd transferred to the reader played fine without any problems.

This is a really nice compact SD card reader. I've been using it to caddy a microSD card between my HP Spectre laptop and my 3D printer. The small size means it doesn't stick out the back of the laptop too far, and it doesn't 'droop' like larger heavier readers. I've not had any connection problems and the SD card is recognised as soon as I plug the reader in. Good build quality, nice and light.

This SD card reader works well between my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my M1 Max MacBook Pro.

It allows me to preview video recordings made from my Sony video camera's SD card on my iPhone by using the USB-C end of the card reader. I can also connect it to my MacBook via a Thunderbolt dock using the USB-A end of the card reader for previewing my video files. I could use the USB-C ports on my Thunderbolt dock but these are usually being used for SSDs, so being able to use the USB-A connection is very convenient. The SD card reader can also connect direct to my MacBook via its Thunderbolt/USB-C ports.

As for transferring data, it's not very fast. On both my iPhone and MacBook the read and write speeds to the card reader using a fast V60 U3 SD card were about the same. Testing a folder with 99GB of video files it was taking about 19 minutes to read or write the folder. Which is 99000MB. So for one minute the transfer speeds were about 5200MB per minute and about 86MB per second.

So, while not being a fast SD card reader. It is perfect for previewing videos from an SD card on your iPhone 16 Pro Max. I was using 100Mb/s 4K 25FPS video files. This would also work for any 16 series iPhone. And in a pinch you could also use it for transferring files as well. Although, if you require faster transfer speeds, there are more suitable USB-C card readers out there.

Vielseitigkeit dank USB 3.0 und USB-C

Was mir besonders gefällt, ist die Kombination aus USB 3.0 und USB-C. Dadurch kann ich den Kartenleser sowohl an meinem Laptop als auch direkt an meinem Android-Smartphone nutzen. Die Flexibilität ist gerade auf Reisen unschlagbar, da ich damit schnell und unkompliziert Daten von meiner Action-Cam-SD-Karte auf eine externe SSD verschieben kann, ohne zusätzliche Adapter mitzuschleppen.

Das Gerät hat Steckplätze für normale SD-Karten und MicroSD-Karten, was ich super praktisch finde.

Schnelle Übertragungen dank USB 3.0
