Screen on this weather station is fantastic, it's matt, dimmable, images are sharp with no light bleed between different segments and non reflective, and can be seen from any angle, unlike most other colour stations, which use highly reflective screens.
The outdoor sensor takes 2 AA batteries and has a decent range, it's about 15 metres from the indoor base station in my house with several brick walls between them, and the signal is a full 5 bars on the screen.
Temperatures on both the indoor and outdoor stations seem fairly accurate, as does the barometric pressure and humidity display.
The station features a MSF clock, which picks up a signal from an atomic clock, and is therefore always accurate.
On initial setup, this sets the time and date, so basically nothing to do for setup, apart from turn it on and wait for it to receive a signal, and possibly match the channels on on the base unit with the outdoor sensor.
MSF reception can be a bit hit and miss if the station is inside a room and not positioned near a window, but it can easily be brought to a window, and forced to receive a signal simply by holding down the MSF button on top of the unit.
The base station takes 3 AA batteries, and also has an a mains adaptor with a cable of about 1 meter for mains power, so if you want the screen permanently illuminated it needs to be plugged into mains. It works on batteries alone also, but the screen dims after 15 or 20 seconds. If batteries are installed, it also retains all data if unplugged from mains.
If being used in a bedroom, note that when buttons are pressed on the unit, it emits a quite loud 'beep', so if you have a light sleeping partner it might be a problem.
I spent hours looking through different weather stations to replace my old one, and finally settled on this unit. I'm very glad I did, and would highly recommend it to others.
