Alexa and Echo devices are built with multiple layers of privacy protection. For example, Echo Auto has a Microphone Off button that electronically disconnects the microphones. You also have control over your voice recordings. You can view, hear or delete them at any time. Learn more about privacy.
Easy to set up and use
Echo Auto connects to Alexa through your phone's Alexa app and plays through your car's speakers via auxiliary input or your smartphone's Bluetooth connection.
Step 1
Plug the USB cable into your car's electrical socket using the included adaptor or directly into the USB port.
Step 2
Use the Alexa app to begin setup. Make sure to download the latest version of the Alexa app.
Step 3
Before every drive, make sure your phone's volume is turned up and the audio input (Bluetooth or auxiliary) is selected.
Step 4

This is what I wish my car had come with out of the factory!
The in-car voice system that comes with my car is basically trash - we use alexa at home and I often have random questions that I need answering that pop into mind that Alexa handles well - so this 2nd gen Echo Auto was an easy choice for me. It comes with a self adhesive magnetic mount, and a medium length cable that ends in a USB-A port. I'm planning to use the USB port in my glove box now that I know the cable will reach, I just need to wait for my USB port splitting hub to arrive. Installation sounded straightforward, plug in, and then add device from the app on my phone. However it all seemed to connect but would never trigger after the first instance. I left it a day, and then reset it all and started from scratch. The second time it worked flawlessly, and now by flicking through to the bluetooth input of my car I can amuse myself with tedious trivia again, whenever the thought pops in mind. Once it's running it seems stable and is quick to relay my questions to my phone and back. This is what I wish my car had come with out of the factory! (The photo's are just my temporary setup to get it all working before I more discreetly wire it.)
