One of Hawkwind's best album now given the 'deluxe' treatment.So....
Disc1 the original album plus bonus tracks remastered, certaily to my mind its a clearer remaster than that from 1996,Lemmy and Simon King's rythmn section brought to the fore and showing how powerful they were, sounds like an oxy-moron but ,for me, the remaster despite being clearer has still managed to keep the original primitive ,raw sound ,we have known and loved for 50 plus years.
Disc 2 'The remix'.. WOW what a sound, the remix is absolutely stunning ,its like listening to a different set of 'takes',perfection, listen with the headphones om. a real 'trip'.
So its the best of both world for me the original retained on disc 1and a new experience on disc 2.
Disc 3, the Greasy truckers performance, well i had actually never heard this in full, so that a bonus for me,excellent stuff.
So why only 4 stars, well the price is way to high and at that price, small things irritate such as the packaging, yes the hard back case is nice but the 2 blue rays ( which i dont have the equipment to watch on as yet) shouldnt be loose, they should have had a place in the other cd holder. That plus the book is pretty bland, not much reading and i didnt really need multiple pictures of tape boxes.
Too be honest,if it wasnt for the fact that i didnt have the Greasy Truckers material,i would have bought the 2 disc, much cheaper version. If you dont need everything thats the one to go for.
