My husband and I both have cine films from our childhood. I had already videoed projected film on my phone for a few reels, but the quality is obviously not great (and the 60++ year old projector is very dodgy). The cost of transferring our reels would be at least £400, so it made sense to do do it ourselves using this digitiser. It is easy to use once you have it sussed (took about 10 minutes to work it out and I'm not that good with these things). You definitely need a knack for putting the film through the film holder (I found putting it under the left hand clip first, then twist the film towards the back to put it under the middle clip, then twist it towards you to put under the right hand clip works well after a couple of practices). The frame adjuster mode and rewind are both easy to use. A 3" reel takes about 30 minutes to digitise, so you can do something else while waiting for it. The results are obviously dependant on the quality of the original film, but so far 1970s film is decent quality watchable on a 20" monitor. Another plus point for me is that it can digitise both 8mm and Super 8. Brilliant buy!
