The first five albums (or the good ones as they are known in my house) presented as a boxset to celebrate 40 years. This is the first of 3 boxes and (in my opinion) the only one worth getting hold of. These albums by far represent the freshest and most consistent era for the band. If you're looking at this you're already a fan so I won't go on and on and on about why you should already have these. Each album is remastered (to my ears pretty well for a change) and comes packaged with an 'ep' of bonus material. I've never liked this idea. Either fill the CD or don't bother. Each lot of bonus tracks could have easily fitted on the back of the album.. hey ho..
The price of this set was a key factor in my purchase. Effectively you are getting each album very cheaply. Which is a good thing as the additional extra packaging is very flimsy and completely not needed (although made my decision to buy much easier - job done I guess). The bottom line is this. As a boxset it's not worth it. As a collection of the bands finest albums that everyone should own it's unbeatable.
